Mike Thalheimer appears to be centering the ball, but Paul Schwab runs interference to make sure Batesville maintains possession. rere %: - As Well as to Know As Batesville enters a new year, a unique attitude prevails among students. Just as Dante stated, “I love to doubt as well as to know,’ expresses his belief in the unlimited ’ opportunities for learning, Bates- villians are also realizing their many chances for a broad education. At Batesville there are numerous opportunities for a liberal educa- tion that begin to mold an indivi- dual’s life. In the wide variety of courses, students are encouraged to think and discover for themselves as In comparison with a busy week- day, the school building stands nearly deserted on an uneventful Saturday. they question traditional concepts and search for new ideas. But a student’s schooling is not just cen- tered around academics; he also participates in challenging extra curricular activities ranging from creating stage scenery to tutoring others. As the leaders of a new area in education, Batesvillians, continually doubting and searching, accept the many challenges that Batesville offers. The girls worked in the clinic one hour a day helping the school nurse. They spent one day traveling with the school nurse to the surrounding schools and observed her duties. The Batesville High School Broadcast is a publication put to- gether by the students for the students. Its aim is to give the student body the news which is most current, to entertain with interesting and amusing feature stories, and to teach through its editorials. The Broadcast will flourish as Batesville High School flourishes. The Bulldog office comes alive in early October and remains a bustling center of activity for a gallant few until the final deadlines are met. Creating a yearbook is a never-ending job for the editors, staff, and advisor; it is a constant source of wonder, worry, and hard work. The purpose of an annual is to relate a story—a story of activity, of participation, and of learning. But the most important element of the story is an elite group of people who bring the story and the school to life. The students who comprise the Bulldog staff are a small part of this elite group, but an important part. Under the direction of Miss Heim, these students are able to give to you an account of the story in which you play an integral part. The club is sponsored by Mr. Brokamp. The purposes of G.A.A. are several. First, there is the active participation in sports, giving girls a chance to play. G.A.A. also promotes sportsmanship and fellowship. This year, the girls in G.A.A. hope to enter and compete in track events. These com- petitions give the girls a chance to meet new people and learn new ideas. There are several sports available to girls in G.A.A., such as bowling, vol- leyball, basketball, and track. “Music, maestro, please!”” Here comes the Big Blue Band.
