Dedication — The delight we have experienced in dedicating our current BULLDOG is indeed considerable; none- theless this delight is surely matched by our pride in the object of our dedication, In considering the numerous excellent qualities possessed by our dedicatee, we feel that among his most unique and com- mendable characteristics, is his unabating enthusiasm, Despite long years of association with Bates- ville High School, it is impossible to think of him as an ‘‘Old Timer.’’ No more eloquent comment can testify to both his vitality and versatility. It goes without saying that he has handled the necessary tasks involved i n the execution of the position he holds both efficiently and effectively. While this manner of performance is in itself most commendable, it falls short in pointing out the really telling traits which set apart the superior educa- tor. These very traits--a strong sense of humanity, an honest and intelligent interpretation of life, and a perceptive and sympathetic attitude toward those with whom he had dealt--mark the real spirit of our dedicatee. It is with great pride that we the 65 BULLDOG Staff dedicate this annual to MR, SYLVESTER J, BARTLING,

In Memoriam Leo H. Leising Many words could be used to exem- plify the traits, ideals, and philosophy of Mr, Leising. Some of these are his untir- ing efforts in the cause of community de- velopment, friendship, and understanding between farm and city peoples; his years of meritorious service in the promoting and fostering of community relations, Few people ever take advantage of the oppor- tunities to serve their fellow man as he did. Although he was a farmer, and many of his activities were related to agricul- ture, it was most apparent to those who knew him, that the total community wel- fare was of prime importance in any de- cision. This could surely be expressed by the great interest he took in the educational field as a member of the School Board of the Metropolitan School District of Bates= ville. Board of Directors Batesville School Building Corporation SEATED: Mr. Cooley, Mr, Fields, Mr. Weigel. STANDING: Mr, Greeman, Mr, Giesting, Mr, Romweber.
