It has been the pleasure of the undersigned to be associated with all these books save one. And happy, rewarding years they were. Tribute is due the student editors. This loyal band of people, listed on the opposite page, worked long and difficult hours to bring this unique history of an era in a community. May this yearbook of 1960 be dedicated to them. Wittenburg College English Hiya B.H.S.! We've got just enough time to write this letter before we leave. We'd like to tell you a little about ourselves before we have to say bye. We entered B.H.S. just like all the classes before us. We were a little scared and green too. But initiation took care of most of that. We had a swell (?) bunch of seniors to start us off right. Miss Wonning and Mr. Roth sponsored our class the first year. Jack Kellerman, Joan Tonges, Cornie Wissel, and Kenny Wehr were elected by our class to run the show the first year. We made it through our freshman year safely, but when we came back after summer va- cation June Bollinger, Richard Burch, Lee Lynn, and Pat Thomas weren't with us. Judi Elliot and Becky Decker joined the gang. Our sophomore sponsors were Miss Peterson and Mr. Lyon. The ones who kept the wheels turning were Gary Moenter, President; Judi Elliot, vice-president; Becky Decker, secretary; and Albert Meyer, treasurer. Gay Gardner and Judi Elliot provided part of the beauty for Homecoming festivities. And then came our junior year. Virginia Burch, Richard Eckstein, Jim Collins, Will Schwegman, Earl Clark, Kenny Slagle, George Litzinger, and Judy Volz had left our gang. A new friend, Jim Munchel, joined our ranks. Mr. Gardner and Mr. Deppert took over the job of keeping our feet on the ground. Dick Brelage was elected president with Gay Gardner, vice-president; Lois Koester, secretary; and Albert Meyer, treasurer, to help him put our heads in the clouds. Our Homecoming stars, Bertie Mollaun and Ella Kessler, shone in the Queen's court. Our play, One Wild Night, was one of the junior year highlights. Tickets, scenery, rehearsals, programs, and ushers were all part of the confusion before the big performance. After it was over we were all a little relieved and hoped that next year would be just as much fun. Another big event was our Christmas record hop. Everybody had a lot of fun and it sure helped our bank account. On May 18, we walked into Fantasyland. After a week of work and fun the gym was changed into a hideaway for Mother Goose and Disney characters. We thought it was one of the nicest Proms ever, but we could be prejudiced. We thought we had picked a winner the year before, so Dick Brelage was elected president of our senior year also. Jack Kellerman, vice-president; Lois Koester, secretary; and Pam Westerfeld, treasurer, helped him keep everything straight our last year. Dean Ison, Paul Fasbinder, Mary Rousey, Ronald Werner, and Bill Multner weren't there to help us elect our leaders. Our representative, Judi Elliot, won the title of Queen of the Pumpkin Show, showing that pretty girls come from the senior class at Batesville. To back up this statement, Darlene Stirn demonstrated her grace and poise reigning as Homecoming Queen. Cornie Wissel and Jeanie Dieckmann represented the Senior class in her court. The senior play, June Graduate, was more fun than our junior play. The same confusion was part of the preparation, but everything went smoothly the night of the big performance. We looked forward to Prom time and graduation that came all too soon afterwards. Well, here's part of our story. We've had a wonderful four years. We're glad we could share a little chunk with you. The story isn't finished though. After we graduate a new story will begin. Now time's run out and we'll have to say.... Bye, Class of 1960 President. . . . . .« Richard Brelage Vice-President. . . .
