Hazel Bauer, Our Pumpkin Show Representative a! ‘2 ¥ os 4 CLASS Mah In the year of 1952, we gathered as freshmen for the beginning of one of the main chapters of our lives. When we registered, the count showed us four short of a hundred. i¢@ nf “as y ae - ; 7 N : 5 . Our first class meeting was held September 11, in the gym to elect our officers. They were: president, Jim Gibson; vice-president; Mike Decker; secretary-treasurer, Boots Prentice. The main event of our freshman year was the initiation. Onions, soap, big buckets, toilet tissue, and lots and lots of lipstick were in evidence every place. Following the initiation, we were given a party. The seniors gave us plenty of ice cream, cold pop, and apologies for all the mean things they had done to us during the day. Under the supervision of our sponsors, Miss Wonning and Mr. Fields, we had our class party February 28. We danced, played games, and had delicious refreshments. Another part of the chapter slipped by, and we found ourselves sophomores. This was 1953, and gone but not forgotten were: Billy Becker, Janice Collins, Susanna Davis, Joseph Eckstein, Ed Fullen- kamp, Albert Hoegeman, Pat Huser, Jean Liskey, Vernon Moody, Rita Niese, Alvin Nobbe, Paul Prickel, Charles Root, Keith Stapley, Dixie and Barbara Vierling. The one new student was Paul Dietz. Our class officers that year were James Gibson, president; Arthur Tyler, treasurer; Janet Prentice, vice-president; and Deloris Thie, secretary. This was the first year that girls from our class were eligible to become attendants to the Homecoming Queen. The ones chosen by the football team were Lorraine Deffner and Louella Scheele. In the fall of '54, all of us except Allen Bohlke, Sharon Corbin, Mike Decker, Pauline Effing, Nick Fasbinder, Elvera Harpring, Jerry Heppner, Ralph Houston, Judy Miller, Cleo Narwold, David Oswald, Albert Suttman, Arthur Tyler, Sharon Wolferst, and Paul Dietz came back to B.H.S. We gained one classmate, Joe Werner. Yes, we were juniors then, and shortly after returning, two of HISTORY our girls were again chosen as attendants of the Homecoming Queen. That year, Janet Prentice and Hazel Bauer were the fortunate ones. In our junior year, Janet Prentice was president of our class; Louella Scheele, vice-president; Albert Grossman, treasurer; and Guy Ollier, secretary. On December 3, 1954, we presented our junior play Golden River,'' an event we and our audience shall never forget. Our class was the first to hold an open prom, but everything went smoothly, and on that ''twentieth day of May, 1955,'' instead of step- ping into the gym, the juniors and seniors stepped into ''outer space. ' Yes, just as our theme stated, we danced Out of This World. As seniors we returned to complete the final pages of our high school chapter. This year we lost Ronald Borgman, Wilbur Dwenger, Edward Laws, Ronald Mollaun, Donna Parmer, Julian Schene, and Joe Werner. We gained one student, Kay Hurley. Those chosen to lead us during this final eventful year were: Janet Prentice, president; Jerry Robinson, vice-president; Albert Grossman, secretary; and Louella Scheele, treasurer. Mr. Reeves and Mr. Frushour were our sponsors and helping hands. The freshmen were welcomed to B.H.S. by initiation, a party in the gym, and again onions, soap, persimmons, and lipstick were the order of the day. Some of the highlights of the year were, Homecoming, assembling the ''BULLDOG , presenting our senior play, and attending the Junior- Senior Prom as guests of honor. As the term drew to a close, we made plans for our class trip, Baccalaureate, and the climax of the four years--Graduation. Standing on the threshold of life we look back on unforgettable memories, and the senior class wishes to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped make these four years both pleasant and rewarding. AVEeRES elke ssaseen aan Civics: Mr. James Gibson (the sleeping beauty in the back row) takes his studies seriously, or so it appears. Bookkeeping, Chemistry, and Civics, Three courses offered to seniors. Looks like the seniors are having fun (?) too. Seems like everybody is always down in the chemistry class, Wonder why? All the boys in bookkeeping seem to be having problems, They're all hard at it. Must be the end of the six weeks and they need that A. Must be quite a problem of locating some point on the map in History; half the class is up there, So you think it's funny, eh, Gene? Those juniors are even more serious than sophomores, What's this school coming to anyhow? Frankly, I'm worried! Looks like a bright sunshiny fall morning. Could be just going to school in that sort of atmos- phere prompted all the sober- ness, There is Miss Wonning with her favorite warm, friendly smile. I guess she thinks that is for the birds. Mr, Reeves can really hold the attention of his students. Couldn't be his good looks, so I wonder how he does it? Again the sophomores are very sober as they absorb a demonstration. Marilyn Ertel (her again?) seems more interested in the student giving the lecture. Some- one must have given a funny an- swer in geometry from the looks of the sophomores in this picture. Could be they just want to show off their good looks, At any rate, they are having a good time. Home Economics: Can't you just hear the “Ohs and Ahs of ad- miration for that doll baby!
