In the fall of 1973, a new face was added to the Bates College Field Hockey squad as a braided freshman from West Hartford, Con- necticut rapidly racked up both goals and admiration for her increasingly apparent skill with each game. Wildewoman continued gaining notoriety in and out of the state, by virtue of her indomit- able playing style. In her senior year, the sea- soned co-captain provided the leadership and performance which earned her the respect of both teammates and opponents. On October 12, 1977, Priscilla Wilde crowned her field hockey accomplishments with a stun- ning 5-goal game against UMC, a feat which brought her over the record-breaking100-goal mark. Backed by a strong, cohesive team, she completed her last and finest season. Official recognition for PriscilIa's achieve- ments came in the form ofthe twice-won Evelyn Dillon Field Hockey Award, her selections to the Northeast College All-Tournament Team and the Northeast Squad II, and finally her ap- pearance in Sports lllustrated's Faces in the Crowd .
