A I , I ff We learned the value of sincerity and concern. There are few in this class who have not experienced the deep cornunication possible with others via the bull-session, the all-nighter, the cup of regular cojfee. At the same time there are few who have not lent money to, or spent money on a Bates friend, senior or underclassmen. There are many who have realized that giving time and attention to someone is worth much more than sitting around complaining about something that always seems better in the morning anyway. Weive learned the importance of preparing for our lives in the future. Some of us learned it only a couple of weeks ago, but, nevertheless, it has been a lesson. Weve been contemplating grad school, military service, steady employment in teaching, business, and professional jields. Weve even got a few in our class who have decided that the possibility of a Batesy marriage isn,t such a corny thing after all. - Douglas White

YVe,ve made forward strides in improving relations between the administration and the studentsg welve been instrumental in changing the format of the student government on campus, welve worked for and attained seemingly trivial things like no hours for senior women, a revised drinking policy, and extended hours in the library, the Den, and the Post Ojhce. We have seen a special emphasis placed on students rights and privileges . . . sometimes we failed in expressing ourselves through the proper channels . . . sometime the fault lay with the administration. But the fact that should be real to us is that we really did know, again for the most part, what type of school this was and what type of individuals we were. Our concern at this time should be what we are going to do from here. What are we going to make of ourselves as a result of what has happened - not what could have happened or should have happened? As I look back upon these four years, I think we have all greatly profited from being here. We learned the importance of co-operation. YVho among us can say that he or she has not been helped out in this academic struggle by the last minute appearance of helpful notes or a private nug,'-session? How many of our number have not felt somewhere along the line that if it werenlt for special class friends we might never have made it through an especially troubled night.
