With this year. and the class of 1965. Bates enters upon its second century as a college. There have been many changes since its beginning. each indicative ol' progress. ln fact. many earlier graduates may not even reeognize in Bates the college they once knew. so great have been such changes as Lane Hall. Lane Hall, a central symbol of this progress, now houses almost all of the administration personnel. The building was opened for use this fall. and it contains some efficient modern oflices. as well as some comfortable and charming traditional rooms which provide a gathering place for formal meetings and receptions.
