Percussion j .47 Mike Mullen, Vicki McCormick. Ron Bitzer, Ricky Gladwell. Debbie Ungetheum, Becky Windle. The Batavia High School Band has been very active this year. They went to the District XII Band Contest at Princeton High School on March thirtieth and received a I, or Superior, rating for the third consecutive year. This rating enabled them to participate in the state band contest in Springfield on April Ewenty-seventh. There they received 2.1 rating also. This was the first time in Batavia's history that its hand has received a I at State. The recipient of the John Phillip Sousa Award was a percussionist. Mike Moon Mullen. also a member of the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra. Two other seniors Were eligible for this coveted awarduKathy Aye: and Betsy S. Nichols. Debbie Lahmarm was elected band queen and was crowned at the spring concert on A pril nineteenth. This year was surely 'a very successful one for the Batavia High School Band, under the direction of Bruce M. Behlow. 9!
