They went to the District XII Band Contest at Princeton High School on March thirtieth and received a I, or Superior, rating for the third consecutive year. This rating enabled them to participate in the state band contest in Springfield on April Ewenty-seventh. There they received 2.1 rating also. This was the first time in Batavia's history that its hand has received a I at State. The recipient of the John Phillip Sousa Award was a percussionist. Mike Moon Mullen. also a member of the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra. Two other seniors Were eligible for this coveted awarduKathy Aye: and Betsy S. Nichols. Debbie Lahmarm was elected band queen and was crowned at the spring concert on A pril nineteenth. He has led the team in scoring with an 18 point average. His other statistics are 14.6 rebound average. 72.4 free throw per- centage. and led the team in assists. He has been chosen M.V.P. as a Freshman 011 the re- serve team. and as a Junior and Senior on the varsity. He was twice chosen on the C.C.L. All Star team, He has a bright future. JIM DICKASON - 6' 6 Senior Center thighest game 22h Jim was greatly responsible for our season's record of 16-6. He led the team in rebounds with 19.5 per game. He averaged 17 points per game. He has steadily improved with each season's experience. He has a very soft touch on his out- side shot and has developed good moves underneath. He was chosen the. team's M. V. P. as a senior. He was chosen twice as C.C. L. All Star, I08 NICK LUNG - 6' 2 Senior forward thighest game 22h Nick's major asset to the team was his consistency of play. He averaged 13 points per game for two years on the varsity. He was the teams' best defensive man and offensive rebounder. His rebound average was 16.9 per game. He shot well from outside killing zone defenses. As a Sophomore he was voted M.V.P. on the reserve team. He made the C.C. His presence helped jell our team, bringing us several victories. He did very commendable jobs or; the opponents' offensive guards and was near the top in freemhrow accuracy and assists. VINCE KENNEDY - 6' 0 Junior guard Vince is a very coachable player with the best attitudel have ever seen. He has the potential to be a stand out next season. With his deter- mination and confidence he will help next 'y'e'ar'S team as he.has this season. DENNIS WELLS - 6' 0 Senior center Dennis was an asset to our team's morale. He was always willing to mix it up with the bigger boys under the boards. He had a great fighting spirit and was content enough to be a proper substitute and maintain the proper attitude. He improved very much this season. LESLIE STOCKMIER mot showrn - 6' 4 Junior forward - center Leslie possessed the best shooting eye in the varsity squad. Many will remember his 25 foot shots touching only the bottom of the net. Leslie has passed from our midst but will be long remembered as a popular friend and good athlete. WILLIAM MOSLEY - 5' 9 Junior guard Corky helped the varsity a great deal in practice because of his hustling pressure defense.
