BATAVIA HIGH December 3 Home talent show in auditorium. 4 Play Pleasant Plain. Results,- girls won, boys lost. 7 Typing clms works on paper. 8 Batavia plays Libertyville here. Double victory. Hurrah! 9 Assembly program starring Bob Wood from Ottumwa. Thanks, Bob. I0 Seniors work on Annual. ll Batavia goes to Packwood to come home with a double victory. I5 Lockridge game is postponed. I6 Grade Christmas program. I8 Play Hedrick there. Sad story. 22 Christmas vacation begins. 23 Play postponed, Lockridge game. Very happy. 29 Batavia visits Birmingham. Girls win. Boys lose. .January 4 Christmas vacation over. Back to school again. 5 Play Pleasant Plain here. Nice night. 6 Cheerleaders visit Ottumwa to get new outfits. Happy Day! 7 Journey to Libertyville. Girls lose. Boys come home with victory. 8 I. Q. tests. Big headache! ll County tournament. Boys have victory over Libertyville. I2 Group pictures taken. Girls enioy victory over Pleasant Plain in county tournament. I3 Boys forge ahead. Victory over Plemant Plain. I4 Semester tests. Oh, Dear. I5 Tournament finals. Packwood beats Batavia boys. Liberty- ville destroys Batavia girls. I8 Schedule is changed for second semester. I9 Basketball game with Pack- woody girls win, boys lose. 20 Girls enioy new white suits. 2l Returned class rings for new crests and other repairs. 22 Teams journey to Lockridge. Girls lose, boys win. 25 Bad weather, school dismissed. 26 Basketball game at Richland. Very sad night. S C H O O L I 9 5 3 January 26 Senior play books came, Bolts and Nuts . 27 Seniors work on annual. Fun. 28 Started on school paper. 29 Play Agency there. Boys win big game. Girls lose. February I Sectional tournament. Batavia girls meet Plecxant Plain. Close call. 2 Boys go to Stockport for practice on new floor. 4 Girls get bumped by Richland in sectional. 5 Work on annual. Seniors read play over. Salvation Army man visits school to talk to boys. 8 Florence Mitchell enters Batavia High as a sophomore. Welcome, Florence. Boys journeyed to Stockport to play Bonaparte in sectional. Nice going. ll Boys played Farmington in sectional at Stockport. We were defeated. I6 Hedrick visited us in basketball. They took home two victories! I8 We played our last game with Ollie! We won both games. Nice going, kids. 23 The Rev. Melvin Miller talked with us in an assembly program. March 4 Girls saw State Tournament games at Des Moines. Lot of fun!! 9-I3 Junior High Tournament at Lockridge. I8 Boys go to Iowa City to see State Tournament games. Fun!! 26 One Act Plays!! 27 Campus Capers at Parsors ! ! April I6 Baseball boys played Packwood, here! 20 Baseball boys travel to Farmington. 27 Farmington visits the baseball boys! 29-30 Senior play, Balls and Nuts . May 7 Junior and Senior Banquet at Hotel Turner in Fairfield. Hunary!! ll Baseball at Packwood, I6 Baccalaureate Services. 20 Commencement. Mr. Joe Griffin, speaker 2l School is out until next fall. OH, HAPPY DAY.

Willa Ramsey quit school. School dismissed at noon for Labor Day. Thrill, thrill. Received new American Problems books. Seniors sell ads in Fairfield. First bcseball game at Agency. Boys came home with broken hearts. Seniors sell ads at Ottumwa. Girls' kittenball game at Lockridge. We won. Freshmen recover from initiation party. Student Council members chosen. Started on school paper. Baseball gune at Eldon. Sad day. School dismissed at noon for Centennial celebration. School dismissed again. More fun. Mary Six quit school. Last day of Centennial. School dismissed for afternoon contests. Baseball game with Packwood. Happy day. Seniors collect ads. Play Pleasant Plain in tournament at Ollie. Got off to a good start. Quiet day at school. Baseball finals. Played Packwood. Won in extra innings. Girls' basketball starts. School movie. Baseball game, Ollie, sad day. Baseball game at Packwood. Another loss. School paper comes out. Basketball practice starts for boys. Juniors receive cards to sell for class funck. Teachers' Institute. No school. Student Council meeting. P. T. A. meeting tonight. Seniors iourney to Oskaloosa to pose for pictures. Girls play practice gane with Bell Telephone girls. Nice victory. Senior class meeting. 20 School inspector visits Batavia school. Seniors receive proofs. 2l Boys' basketball game with town team. Victory for town team. 26 Basketball suits issued to girls. Received game schedules. 27 Juniors practiced play. 29-30 .lunior play tonight. November 3 Second edition of school paper emerges. 4 Je-Wa-Ke Jamboreey boys beat Ollie. Girls beat Packwood. 5 Band Carnival tonight. School dismissed at 2:00. 6 Teachers' meeting. No school. Hurray. 9 Coach operated on for appendicitis. ll High School entertained with a short play about Armistice Day. l2 National Education Week. Play given on education. All future teachers invited to attend Parsons. l3 First bcsketball game. Sad game for girls. Boys won. l6 Assembly program about glass elements. i7 Basketball game at Ollie. Girls lost. Boys won. l8 Bax Supper tonight. Coach returns at last. I9 Bob Shriver enters school. Welcome, Bob. 20 Play Blakesburg here. Very sad night. 24 Agency invades Batavia for ball- game. Lost both games. 25 School paper comes out. Relief. School dismissed at 2:00 for Thanksgiving vocation. Hurray. 30 School takes up again. Sad thought. December l Farson comes to Batavia. Sad tale for girls. Boys pull through. Seniors received name cards.
