Education ofcourse is the key to your future life You will see the theme expressed in the artwork and - casionally in the write-ups . We had to make an exception of the cover however - cause of costs but we knew you would like our blue devil. We also hope this book in years to come will be the key to open forgotten mem- ories and experiences that happened in BHS. It has been great making this Batavian for you The staff has worked hard and it shows in the book. We hope you will enjoy reading and looking at your yearbook as much as we enjoyed putting it together 2 Conlenff Parents Nlglll ADMINISTRATION Board of Edugatlon Fuulty SENIORS Hlstory Offlcers Banquet and Honor SOCIETY Members Pm Senlor Poll Playhouse Elugtlon Assgmblv Senxors of 17 UNDERCLASSMEIN Class of 58 Class of 59 Snapshots of junrors ACTIVITIES SSYVILL League Publlcatrons Aetors Speakers and Stage Crew Clubs and Musu. Covmaif So that opinions of the students of Batavia High School may be ex- pressed in the formation of school policies and the planning of school activities, a Student Council is elected. This year the Council of fifteen members supervised many new proj- ects in an effort to better our school. In addition to the Student Exchange Program, an Assembly Exchange Program was arranged. A tribute to Don Bosseler was expressed in a Senior High Assembly to stimulate sports- manship. Another project under way is a Foreign Student Program. Mr. Leland Sanborn has offered helpful advice concerning the numerous responsibili- ties ofthe Council, such as dances, rallies, and buses to out-of-town games. All in all the Student Council made this year a big success by pro- moting friendly relations among the students and faculty. Officers of the Council were D. Nagel, treasurer: M. Di Pietro, sec- retary: L. Moretto, mayor and president, L. Szustak, vice-president. Mr. Leland Sanborn was the adviser. LEFT TO RIGHT: B, Sanborn, D. Babcock, S. Bannister, L. Cbomlefff The BHS Choristers, a group of sophomore, junior, and senior students have become well known throughout our country and many others by their annual Coast-IO-COaSt broadcast. The usual broadcast, however, was changed this year. Instead of broadcasting at Christmas time, a broadcast was made at Easter. Records were made and purchased by those who wanted them. With the addition of new satin stoles, the Choristers looked especially nice at their performances . Mr. Owen, the capable director of the Choristers, used eighty voices this year rather than the usual sixty. Another innovation for this year's singing group was the election of a president.
