CALVIN ABERNATHY Co-Captain Playing his third year on the varsity Ab was always the roughest end on the field and he was an especially good pass receiver. BUCCANEERS SCUTTLE BASS, 19-I3 The Blue and Gold played their best game of the season against the powerful Bucca- neers of Daytona Beach and wound up on the short end of a 19-I3 count. lt was thc fifth straight win for the Floridi- ans. The NVavc was trailing I9-0 in the third quarter when they began to roll and Bobby Keel sped 75 yards on a beau- tiful run for the first score. In the fourth quarter Tommy EARL WALLIS Punky made all-region third team and was always a tower of strength in the line. We'll miss him next year. GRAHAM BELL NTIKE Borrcn EN TOMMY FOSTER Graham distinguished him- self as a defensive end and several times broke through a corps of blockers to make the tackle. Moore intercepted a Bucca- neer aerial and lugged it back -1-ll yards to lJaytona's 45. Keel took over here and hit and hit again till he had carried to the lll. Then he hit Mike Bott- chen in the end zone for the score. Bobby Keel played one of the finest games he has ever played. ln the line, Graham Bell, VValdo Hitt, Boyd Odom and Ralph Freeman looked best. For the backs, Tommy Moore and Bob Keel starred. Mike specialized in pass receiving and kicking extra points. He set up several touchdowns on fine catches and scored one himself. BASS SLAUGHTERS LIONS Z8-0 The Baker Lions didn't do any roaring against the rolling Wave and were thoroughly soaked, Z8-0. Bass stayed on the ground all during the game and scored all of their four touchdowns on long drives. A first period 55 yard drive was stopped at the Baker l by a fumble. In the second period, Keel scored from the one after a 38 yard parade and again in the second period Reed went over from the 3, climaxing a 65 yard drive. Draper's kicks were good both times. Our best end in the M. game, Tom was always ged. Bass waited till the fc quarter to score two mor D.'s and on drives of 80 45 yards Keel hit from t and Moore scored from IS. Draper's kicks were 3 again giving him a tot: four for the night. The ground attack ate up yards for the most gainer that route all season. T were no individual stand except for Tony Dray four extra points.
