The conTinuous improvemenT in The desTrucTive power oT bombs and missiles has noT broughT The world any closer To peace-iT has merely mulTiplied by many million Times man's abiliTy To desTroy himselT. The colossal Tailure oT such scienTiTic direcTions has been obvious To manlcind Tor a long Time. We have had hopes Tor peace, buT we have never had real TaiTh in iTs possibiliTy. IT has also been obvious ThaT if The human mind can build obiecTs capable oT such enormous des- TrucTion, surely The power To render such obiecTs impoTenT and unnecessary musT also lie in The mind oT man. YeT we have made only sporadic eTTorTs To develop The science oT The mind as iT is applied To human direcTion oT advances oTher Than maTerial iT we 'are To exTend The liTe line of our civiIizaTion.
