Mrs. Grube is also the Junior Class sponsor. Anton Zouplna (above) is a first year teacher at Bas- ehor, where he teaches Vocal Music. Ron Matthews (above) is in his second year of direct- ing band for the high school as well as the middle school. He coaches ensembles and solos for competi- tion. Mr. Matthews enjoys tennis, golf, reading, and listening to records. There seems to be better com- munication between teachers and students. I feel there is a better atmosphere for learning. I'm not sure what changes have contributed to this better atmos- phere. though.” Charles Self (Up Rt) is teacher coordinator of CCVEP. Mr. Self is also the Sponsor of DECA. He enjoys golf, and showing German Shepherd dogs. I would like to see a change in the graduation require- ments. that is Seniors will pass 5 out of 7 subjects or 3 out of 4 for CCVEP students. It is my feeling that this would correct disciplinary problems for the seniors. We need to have students' pride in the school. The school is as good as the students make it.” Jack Schreiner (Lower Rt) is another new face at BUS. He teaches Citizenship. Health, and Psychology. He is Coach for the girls’ basketball teams. Mr. Schreiner taught school for four years before coming to Basehor. “I need to make more money.” 12

Del Garrison (above) has taught Drafting. Woodwork, and Driver Education during his 13 years at Basehor. He is also the Junior Class Sponsor. There needs to be more accountability for absences from class (skips), tar- dies. and students roaming the building during class.” Chris Anderson (Up Rt) teaches American History and American Government. Mr. Anderson is the Senior Class sponsor, and director of the Senior Play. Marieta McMillen (above) directs Art I, Advanced Art. and Crafts. She is also Jr. Class Co-Sponsor. Mrs. McMillen was an artist at Hallmark Cards for four years, and taught at Wyandotte and St. Joseph High Schools. “Some definite action taken about students who skip classes or are repeatedly tardy. Clamp down on students in hall without passes — teachers should be held accountable when students are allowed to leave their room without passes. Arts and Crafts classes should be graded by semester, not by the year.” M
