Class History An unusual event took place in the fall of 1961; the class of '65 entered high school. There were twenty-six eager freshmen who out-numbered every other class in the school. The class officers for the first year were Jean Pierce, President; Doris Zacharias, Vice-President; Mark Sorensen, Secretary-Treasurer; John Cink, Student Council Representative. Mr. Haney was the class sponsor this year. Time rolled on and with it school came again. As Sophomores, we were deprived of the privilege of initiating the new freshmen. This year Gary Lee was elected president of the mob; Medeana Warden, Vice-President; Mark Sorensen, Secretary-Treasurer. John Cink, Student Council Representative. Mr. Jennings was the sponsor of our class this year. When school started in the fall of '63, the class of '65 were upperclassmen! The play Curtain Call for Clifford was presented by the juniors and was a great hit. Later on. as a result of the planning and hard work on the part of Mrs. Grube, class sponsor, and the junior class, the annual Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom was held. The theme was On A Tropic Island. The class officers were as follows: Mark Sorensen, President; Doris Zacharias, Vice- President: Charlotte Florence, Secretary-Treasurer: Jean Pierce, Student Council Representa- tive. The final and great year arrived for the class of 65. John Hoppe, Harold Meyer. Carole McCannon, Mark Sorensen, and Jane Marshall were the class officers. The Boy Who Changed the World. was the play presented by the seniors. On Senior Day, the class toured various places in Kansas City. This year was almost over and the seniors had many fond memories of their high school days. During the senior year, the class of 65 seemed to specialize in royalty. Carnival King and Queen were Eddie Fulkerson and Jane Marshall. Annual royalty was Doris Zacharias and Floyd Kuehnhoff. Jean Pierce and Medeana Warden were chosen as Homecoming Princess this year. Sports was also a specialty of this class. The boys excelled in football, basketball, and track. The broad jump record was broken by Mark Sorensen and the mile relay team broke the previous record. Baccalaureate and Class Night were May 23 and 25 respectively. On May 27 a climax was reached as twenty-nine seniors received their diplomas. Tm sure the class of '65 will remember high school as four of their best and wonderful years. BACCALAUREATE SERVICE Processional ............ Call to Worship..........
