fc EDITOR’S MESSAGE Remember the first day of school when you greeted old friends and new ones? How about freshman initiation and the party that night? Then came the football games and homecoming, the magazine sales. Dad's Supper, Music Carni- val, and the Senior Play. Then, with the approach of winter came the basketball season. Tense with excitement, the teams were cheered on. In the midst of all this came the much anticipated Christmas party and vacation. Along with the snow came the Tri- County League and District Tournaments and the Junior Play. The snow stayed longer than usual, delaying spring, but not the activities of the music festivals, One-Act Play, Easter, spring concert, track and the Student Council election. Not long ago we had the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, the track meet at Abeles Field, freshman orientation, and the Senior's trip to the Ozarks. The many activities of the last week of school: Baccalaureate, class and award night, and commencement, shall be long remembered. These activities and others are recorded in the I960 BOBCAT. The staff hopes that this year's annual will be a cherished memento of this school year--a reminder of your favorite classmates as well as those wonderful hours spent in the many extra- curricular activities.

STUDENT COUNCIL Our Student Council is an introduction to the principles and practices of applied democracy. It gives the students an opportunity for service to the student body and cooperation with the school administration. Not only do council members learn to cooperate with one another, but they are taught to do something for one another. Our Student Council is a concrete base which serves as a foundation upon which adult citzenship is built. The Student Council's thinking and decisions reached in the school are translated into action in the community and the state when good citzenship, good manners, courtesy, and consideration for others are practiced. The Student Council gives its members wisdom in the methods of democracy at work, qualifies them for leadership, and trains them In the paths of cooperative assistance. We, the student body, place our trust In our Student Council and we feel that we are effectively served by its members.
