Dowell publishes CAMPUS DAILY The supplement to the INTERROBANG, the CAMPUS DAILY, began its publication on Monday, April 13, 1970. Peggy Dowell, BCCJC student from Haviland, compiles and edits the news bulletin. It is a one-page paper, which comes out every morning ' . Contained in it is current school and local news, as well as the day ' s highlights from local, state, national, and international news. Students police campus The campus patrol is a group of four criminal justice students whose respons¬ ibility it is to maintain the security of the campus grounds, equipment, and personnel. Organized in September 1969, and approved by the Board of Trustees, the student patrolmen take the place of the more usual night watchmen. Besides providing for campus security, the program provides practical, on-the- job experience for criminal justice students. They are on duty from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from midnight to 7:00 a.m. week nights and twenty-four hours Saturday and Sunday. The campus patrol has trained Eirik, the German shepherd sentry dog, and use him part-time on night patrol, after the campus has been cleared of evening divi¬ sion students and staff. (l) Security Patrol off icer Ed Catlin checks the rooms as part of his duties. (2) Trainer Bill Sowles speaks to Eirik during a training session. (3) Although playful looking, Eirik is a great asset to the Patrol. (if) Two of the Patrol members demonstrate Eirik ' s abil¬ ities at the Open House activities.

Barton Players prove their talents The first club to be organized on cam¬ pus was the Barton College Players, in October of 1969, with about 50 members. To carry out their purpose of providing opportunities for students to participate in theatrical productions and to provide opportunities for the public to enjoy and appreciate theatre, they produced three plays in their first year. The first production was the child¬ ren ' s theatre project of The Wizard of Oz in December, followed in February by an old fashioned melodrama, Dirty Work at the Crossroads, or Tempted, Tried, and True. The final production of the year was the all-school drama project David and Lisa in ApriI.
