legislation and plans functions The Constitution of the Barton Coun¬ ty Community Junior College was the greatest undertaking of the Student Sen¬ ate, which is made up of thirteen stu¬ dent members with two faculty advisers. Though the constitution was foremost in their plans, the Senate also accom¬ plished many useful projects. The ac¬ quisition of a flagpole, the sponsoring of dances and other recreational activ¬ ities, an Inaugural Ball, and the host¬ ing of the State Junior College Meeting, are just a few of the first-year accom¬ plishments of the Student Senate. Sigma Phi Omega: First campus fraternity A very active campus organization is the thirteen-member Sigma Phi Omega, the local chapter of Lambda Alpha Epsilon na¬ tional law enforcement fraternity. This group was organized in November of 1969 with the purpose of advancing the pro¬ fessional administration of criminal justice. It tries to promote better public understanding of the administration of criminal justice, to foster through fraternal contact greater understanding between agencies and departments in criminal justice fields, and to elevate the standards of personnel, training, procedure, and ideals in areas of ad¬ ministration of criminal justice. The fraternity sponsors a black belt karate course for criminal justice ma¬ jors or minors, a firing range and an FBI firing course, and a dog testing program for the U.S. Air Force ' s sentry dog training course. President: Vice-President: Secretary: Treasurer: Sergeant -at-Arms: Bill Teater Tom Pryor Ed Cat Iin Bill Sowles Mel Boyd 2 (l) Bill Sowles and Bill Teater (r) train Eirik, one of the campus security dogs.
