HELPING WITH THE Helping student’s find the answers is one of the most important things a teacher does In his or her career. However, students do not only need answers in the classroom. Many students seek help outside of the regular class time. The 1985-86 YAN-TAT Is dedicated to a teacher who will go out of his way to help a student. This teacher, as supervisor of the bus drivers, indirectly helps practically every student at B.Y. Standing outside the school every morning with his clipboard, he is a familiar sight to most bus riders. In appreciation for his loyalty and dedication to the staff and students at Bartlett Yancey Senior High, the yearbook staff is proud to dedicate the 1985-86 YAN-TAT to Mr. Bedford Jackson Page. DIPLOMA PURSUIT B.Y. Edition — Notes On Play High school, or any place of learning, is an educational process. This process takes many forms: classroom Instructions, reading, sharing ideas with friends — even cruising Riverside Drive is an educational experience. The purpose of education is to increase ones knowledge of the world around him. One of the popular games of the decade is “Trivial Pursuit,” in which people show how much they know. While (hopeMly) all of what a student learns throughout his high school career is not “Trivial,” high school and the game are much alike. They are alike in that both pose many questions that must be answered in order to win, and both have players (students) competing to reach the “Inner Circle” (graduation). This year’s YAN-TAT theme is based on “Trivial Pursuit.” In this case, however, a more apt expression might be “Diploma Pursuit.” Throughout the book there will be pictures of “Trivia” cards with questions.
