The nine month struggle began. - Our first class meeting. Everything rosy. Money will be no problem. - We met with Mr. Chalk to plan our yearbook advertising campaign. - We held another class meeting. Our advertising really slipped in. - Met with Mr. Edwards and launched our magazine sales drive. Easy money. - Mr. Murray took the senior pictures. Graduation seemed really close. - Mr. Chalk again. Selected our yearbook cover and made atentative order. - Report Cards! Graduation looked like a rough road. Those teachers! - Attended College Day at Pittsfield. Which one to choose? Requirements? - What fun! Our senior boys defeated West Pike in a Donkey Ball Game. - The Ag boys staged their annual Barnwarming and Sweetheart Ball. - Mr. Murray again. Took group pictures for the yearbook this time. - We put on a chili supper. Ozarks, here we come! - They went thatta way! the high school was robbed but the senior money was safe in the bank downtown. - Class meeting. Plans were made for the annual Senior Christmas Dance. What enthusiasm! - The annual Christmas Concert by the band and chorus. - Our Christmas Dance? ‘Nough said. - Semester exams! ! ! Why do teachers give tests? Some teachers even hinted we should study more. Don't they know we are seniors? - Another chili supper. Maybe three days instead of five in the Ozarks? - Homecoming! Rosemary made a lovely Queen. Big crowd. We lost. - Dues? We don't need any money until the last of May. - The FHA Sweetheart Ball. - Speech Contest. Let the underclassmen do it. - Music Contest. Winter is about gone. Hurry up, June. - Report Cards again. Once more and we will have it made. Fingers crossed? - FHA Mother-Daughter Banquet. - Senior Class Play. Something new this year but we needed the money. - Scrap drive. We're money mad! - Senior skating party. A buck is a buck. - Junior-Senior Prom. Thanks Juniors. It was lovely. - Senior car wash. We would do anything for that Ozark tnip. - Baccalaureate! Ours was held in the gym. Graduation was a cinch. - Commencement! ! ! We put on our own program. We got the long awaited sheepskin. What a feeling. Look out world! -That Ozark trip. We relaxed and played with our cares behind us for the time being. Our last school activity for the group. From now on our ways will scatter to the four winds. Hail and farewell! Occasionally we went to class. This was the year of the Wig . The Yr-rab was serious business. Gray Company | Hull CLASS HISTORY The drama of the senior class opened September, 1951, in the first grade. The setting was the Barry Grade School building. The directors for the first part of the story were Miss Jesse Brown and Mrs. Mildred Wendorff. The characters were Kent Alford, Marilyn Brown Donald Brown, Susan Coffman, Delores Dean, Naomi Dusenbery, Judy Ewing, Gary Eurniss, Donna Gill, Pam Green, Leta Hobson, Mary Louise Kurtz, Jane Lambert, Linda Lanning, Larry Lewis, Sharon Lee, Eva May Leeds, Gary Main, Deanna Mayfield, Claudia Minear, Denny Minear, Harry Moore, Charlene Northcutt, Terry Oitker, Kathleen Scollon, Judith Sparrow, Ronnie Sheppard, Phillip Spann, Mary Staff, Richard Svrcle, Monte Thompson, Robert Wintjen, and John Whitaker. S Sri In the second year our ne vdij? ctor was Miss Yvonne Gilbert. Some new actors were added: Clinton Woods, Tom Myers, Lawrence Mathes, and Roger Norton. During the third year, under the supervision of Mrs. Mildred Wendorff, we lost some of the cast but we also gained a few more players. Sandra Darnell, Robert Forshey, Carol Henderson, Sharon Schaell, Charles Slayton, Terrill Stearns and Raymond Williams joined our happy gr p. ''as beginning to unfold with the supervision of M s. Grace Jennings in 1954. Daniel Foyd, Jfcfyde Halsema, Freddie Hill, Patrick Hill, Barbara Hultz, Paul Kelly, Betty Sackett, and Donald Stephens were new stars on the billboard. Yet soon still more stars were added while other names were taken down. Two new actresses, Mary DeJaynes and Susan Fennell, made their debut. Mrs. Alice Franklin was the director of the fifth year performance. % The suspense was mounting with Mrs. Helen Redden, our sixth grade teacher, as our director in 1956. A new name was put up in lights on the billboard, Shat name was Patrick Farrell. The cast was enlarged in 1957 when the famous ElDara Players joined the Barry Star Performers. Under the tutelage of a new director, Mr. Ralph Wright, hey, Linda Billings, Leslie Grimsley, Carol Motley, Don Perrine, Joyce Shade, Paul Shade and Robert Wood, worked hard to obtain fame. Ernie VanHook and Linda Withrow, although not from ElDara, also joined our happy group. We, the stars, started the eighth year as usual, losing some players Wkt gaining others, under director Mr. Basil Williams. Our new members were Kenneth Blackorby, Junior Miller, Deloris Tittsworth, and Mary Whitaker. John Shaver Scott. Our sophomore year, wit added two new performers - Jack Hively , The climax had finally come. It was then time when the setting was to change to Barry High School. In our freshman year, 1959, our directors were Miss Alice Nestnck and Mr. We were joinediby actresses Phyllis Kurtz and Rosemary Morrow and actor Jim lrs. Oneita Strubinger and Miss Esther Rampley, fmes VanHook. Last year our director was Miss Mary Myers, and Charles Shaw, were added. Again two more players, Joanna Leeds Now after a twelve-year run the play has come to a close. With the help of Mr. and Mrs. Chel Young, our directors, and a new actor, Charles Wendorff, we have finished the last scene of Act 12. The stage curtains have fallen for the final time on the Drama of 1963. Many had In the year 1983, the class of '63 met for the first time changed a great deal since their high school days. Phil Spann, member of the Space Explorers, had just returned from a successful trip to Mars; so many beautiful women there accounted for the trip's success. One of the great English teachers of today, Jim Scott, of the U of I was there. Jim says he likes everything about teaching except the male students. Jim was quite a romatic boy. Donna Gill, a beautiful and successful movie star, recently made Goldilocks and the Three Elephants , which set the movie world afire. Rosemary Morrow has found a fortune in her diamond mine in Africa. Her dear cousin, Larry Lewis, helps her . One minor problem exists. The Headhunters do not approve of stealing diamonds from their sacre |mine. The penalty - a little head raising. Susan Coffman, President of the Women's Democratic Party, has been doing a lot of campaigning. If the Democrats win Susan will get quit® a bit of credit. Helping in the women's campaign is Joyce Halsema, Susan's advisor on all diplomatic problems and strategy. J 9. g Donnie Perrine is President and founder of the Alaskan Trappers Association. If you have any furs to sell, see Donnie. Also in the crowd is|Mary Staff. Mary, a private secretary to the President of the Watcher's Association, is very good at watching biras. (It takes someone sneaky U.S. Bird to do that. ____ _________ Naomi Dusenbery is the head nurse at Blair Hospital and the fiancee of Joe Schnepf. Joe is a great surgeon and hog raiser. He recently completed a very rare operation, but the patient died. Joe has more than ten million hogs. Leslie Grimsley is working for the Royal Canadian Mounties. Just last week he tured a ferocious criminal after a hard fight. Terry Oitker, now living in Kanj| K.ty, Mo. specializes in selling balloons to kiddies. Ernie anHook is a wild teenage singer and is driving the girls mad. His singing used to be enough to drive anything mad. Assistant to Ernie is Jimmy, his yodeling brother, Jii ience into a trance, a snoring trance. Susan Fennell, an airline hostess for T.W. A. , has met many and has even helped fly a plane or two while sitting on the pilot's lap. Pimmy's singing cap- ds the aud- Gary Furniss is the editor of Sick Magazine . Many questions hav, such as Which one is the sicker, you or the publisher? Kathy Scollon, Gary's wife, is working in the work quite interesting. Carol Motley is living in Egypt with King Mao Mo. she is considering his proposal for marriage. Gary Main is the star basketball player Coach of the Hawks, is having his troubles with his star player and can't keep his mind on basketball. Ronnie Sheppard is the ownei trains them, and sells the dogs to the gambling casino in Las Vegas. She finds One of his favorite dancing girls, forjfthe St. Louis Hawks. Richard Syrcle, It seems that Gary is lovesick of a large dog kennel. He raises German Sheppards, police departments all over the United States. Robert Wood is the Superintendent of Barry High School. His wife, Pam Gr en, is an English teacher there. During the summertime Robert turns to farming as a source of income. Pam has her own garden of green vegetables. Chuck Wendorff is a five star general in the U.S. Army. He plans to retire within the next thirty years or so. Terrill Stearns is a deep sea diver for the Miami Clam Divers Association. This job can be very dangerous says Terrill, especially when one of those clams clamps down on your finger. After the reunion, the old classmates said their goodbyes and went their ways.
