Our picture has shaped into a ’’school day.” It's a day to look back on; to refresh dimming memories of our high school years; the kids, the teaches, the teams. We have loaned two Senior Guides who will show you through the tiled halls where we have walked with fellow students. Come on! The big yellow bus is turning in our street now! 3 With the passing of time, the echoes of our school life will grow fainter and fainter and then die away like the school day memories of our grandparents. We hope, that in this year's YR-RAB, we may bring back some of those lost echoes. Now, as you turn these pages, compare the echoes of our last year with the echoes of the past. YR-RAB Staff and Sponsors 4 Remember the first day of school when we greeted old friends and were assigned to new classes? Hov about the baseball games and the G.A.A. parties, the Home Ec trips and many other beautiful fall outing Then with the approach of winter came the basketball season. Tense with excitement we cheered our team on. In the midst of all this came the much anticipated Christmas vacation. After a social whirl of class and club parties we returned to the old grind. In no time at all the second semester had begun and we could say that half of our school year was behind us. Then along came the basketball tourney and Barry Tigers were in full swing. Colorful cheerblocks performed and fans went wild while teams played their hearts out to win. All of a sudden it was spring. Students began cramming for final exams. Juniors appointed banquet committees and a theme was chosen. At last the big day arrived. Summer vacation was finally here. With all the confusion and excitement behind us we looked back over a year WE'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER. BARRY COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT NUMBER ONE OilbMi W. Franklin. Superintendent Barry, Illinois May 15. '1962 1962 Senior Class: If ever a graduating class had a challenge as they commence their adult life, you have. The world is all mixed up--even our own country is in a crisis. What is your status going to be in such a situation? Barry Schools have attempted to prepare you for such a world. It is a world that will require educated citizens--citizens who can live together--who will have respect for the other fellow. It's going to take citizens who will accept responsibility. You have developed these traits, in the past four years, in a small way. Your own happiness and the happiness of others will depend on how well you continue to develop and apply them. The diploma you will receive soon, indicates your teachers' confidence in you-- don't let them down. You have a good annual. Keep it--you'll appreciate it even more in years to come as you glance through it and revive memories of the best years of your life. Congratulations and good luck. Sincerely, John W. It was a mighty timid group of freshmen that entered the halls of B.H.S. in the fall of 1958. e started our first day of high school by going barefooted. The seniors insisted that this was necessary. Through the help of Mr. Shaver and Miss Nestrick, our sponsors, we survived the torment of the Class of 59 and the other obstacles that freshmen encounter. Anna Gooding joined our ’’green group. Our sophomore year was a much harder year, as I'm sure most of the students remember. We were now acquainted with the traditions of the school. Under the di- rection of Mrs. Strubinger and Miss Rampley, our class rings were ordered and some money was accumulated for next year's prom. The ladder is getting a little harder to climb as we have reached the eleventh step toward education and success. Miss Myers helped us move on and upward as we worked harder than ever to make money for the prom and the senior trip. We had a very active group which made it possible for us to accomplish much. The students, I'm sure, will never forget the Junior Play, a highlight of all those who participated. Finally, we have reached the top step, looking outward across the vast space open to us as students and adults. The teachers have assisted us in every way possible. It's our future to do with as we wish. We each can make it a success or a failure. Mr. Moore and Miss Menard have given us all the aid they can to see that our last year is memorable. The class has worked very hard to see that we have a successful yearbook. The thirty-two students have also been planning their trip and graduation. Connie Sprague has joined our active group this year. The day is approaching quickly when we will hold our diplomas—showing that we have succeeded thus far. And for the support of this declaration and with a firm reliance on what the future holds for us, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
