Requirements for a girl to be a member are: Good sports- manship, health examination, passing grades, and paying dues. Our main event is the sponsoring of our annual crowning of the Basketball Queen. All the girls worked very hard to make this a success. We are very proud that three of our senior queen candidates were G.A.A. girls. Each year the G.A.A. sends a girl to G.A.A. camp at Bloomington. Linda Franklin was elected to go last summer. The girls are given awards according to the number of points they have acquired. These points are carried over from year to year. A swimming party is held in the spring to reward the girls for making our organization such a success in the past year. 40 P e @lu6 Forming the B: J.Losch.P.Staff,C.McCallister.K.Moore,J.Bowker.D.Kinne, S.Easley,L.Phebus,P.Powell.J.Klitz.P.Pryor,L.Holcomb,B.D.Bethard. FEE Barry Illinois Barry Illinois tyctKiar-Sentiar P%o.m Showboat was the theme of the annual Junior-Senior Prom held in the school gymnasium for the juniors and seniors, their guests, the faculty, board members and their husbands and wives. As the guests went up the gangplank, they were greeted by two colored ship's attendants, Mac McCarrell and Tommy Schuster. Card tables, covered with white tablecloths and centered with red carnations, were arranged on the deck of the ship. The open sky was achieved by means of a false ceiling of star-studded and silver crepe paper streamers; and the effect of water surrounding the boat was a colorful sight. A lighted paddlewheel in motion, a steering wheel, life pre- servers, an anchor and a colored couple sitting on bales of cotton, added to the atmosphere. Jim Dela Bar's Orchestra provided music for the dance; and punch was served from an improvised bar in the center of the deck . Kenwood Foster, president of the Junior Class and his guest, Ada Ford, led the Grand March. i Following the dance, a buffet supper, prepared by the junior's mothers and Miss Mary Myers, Junior Class sponsor was served by ten sophomore boys dressed as colored waiters. The dining tables were covered with red checked cloths. Red napkins, printed in white with Showboat,' dance programs and miniature banjos were used as favors. Records of Southern tunes were played during the meal.
