BAHIAN All high school students look forward with great an- ' ticipation to the issuance of the annual year book. There is always a certain amount of excitement connected with each student's desire to see how his picture looks and to read about his achievements in the various phases of the curriculum. However, there should be an even greater sig- nificance connected to the excitement, and that is the fact that the annual portrays another year of educational de- velopment and growth to all the students of the high school. As we look at the pictures and read the articles printed herein, we should not only thrill at the gayety and fun' the various activities have brought to our student body, but we should also respect the purpose and educational value these activities have given our students. Let us not forget the actual production of the year book. The staff members and the advisor have devoted many long hours of work in'the many areas that are neces- sary to bring the entire material into this book we call the Bahian. As in the past, this book reflects much serious thinking, many hours of work, and a lot of leadership on the part of our annual staff and the advisor. lt is my hope that this year's Bahian will make you proud of our achievements and that it will serve as a lasting memento of the achievements of Barron High School for the year i954-55. R. R. Rhode, Superintendent MR. R. R. RHODE RUTH FORRY Office Secretary QU,- Superintendent Our Principal MR. JOHN E, HQAR TO THE SENIORS The mill of life grinds on-the time has come for you to leave the sheltered walls of high school, and enter into the grim realities of adult life. As you leave high school an era in your lives ends, and the friendships and associations with teachers and students that have been happy and carefree will be but memories. Many of these associations and friendships, however, have left imprints upon you that are certain to affect you through-out your lives. You will find in life, as in high school, that you reap what you sow, and that life is what you make it. You will also find in society that there are as many responsibilities to assume as there are benefits to receive. The joys and the sorrows you encounter as you grow older will be largely a result of your own efforts and actions. To be real, sincere, and for the right, will be your biggest job. During these four years that we have been closely associ- ated in and out of classes, l have cudgeled you and reprimanded you, and also attempted to counsel and assist you. These years have been happy ones. As the years go by, l shall have the same attitude toward you. As each school year ends, l always have 0 feeling of re- gret because the seniors are leaving. But such is life. My best and most sincere wish for you is happiness. John E. Hoar, Principal 4
