The Barron Bears slashed Bloomer 22 to 12. This game aroused spirit in both the team and the spectators. The fact that it was the hrst con- ference game of the season, gave much encouragement to our team. The Bears journeyed to Ladysmith December 11 to play the second conference game of the season. Due to skillful playing and hard fighting Barron defeated Ladysmith by a score 36-34. The Bears matched their skill with the Rice Lake team on our floor, December 18. Many spectacular events 57151 occurred during this game, one of which was the re- bounding shot made by Rice Lake. This luck did not stop the Bears for they ended the game with a score 43 to 29 in our favor. One of the greatest highlights of the basketball season was the Barron victory at Spooner, january 8. Although handicapped by a slick floor, the Bears came out on top with a score of 19-15. Hap Dimick was the high point man in this game. The club members worked hard and successfully and should be commended for their work in such a good cause. Forensic work in school is designed to develop skill in speaking among the students The more students who participate, the greater will be the value of this Work This year we have tried to interest everyone It is not our purpose to have people work in order to win a contest Forensics are more valuable as a program in speech in which all of the students can take part The new ruling this year brought on by the war eliminated sectional speech contests This made the school contests more important than ever as a display of our ability in oratory declamations, and extemporaneous reading and speaking Arlene Bjugstad son L Hitt L Blair W Johnson H Bonkrud Second Row Miss Lmdstrom E Rasmussen M Young S Paulsen E Severson D Lmdstrom I Loxerude V Coates H Acker page 48 First Row E Christenson B Olson D Putzke F Carpenter M Miller J Davis x Q . , . . 1 n ' ' ' ' , .
