 '• ft'' Science In order to be technologically literate in today's world, the high school graduate must have a basic understanding of Science. Barringer is the only Senior H.S. in Newark in which the Science Department includes Electricity and Electronics among its courses. The Science Department also offers Barringer students a wide selection of both college and non-college bound courses. The Honors intergrated science program offers a two year unified study of Chemistry and Physics with a unique team teaching approach. Tutorial assistance is provided to all Science students. The Science Department presents the following major awards to outstanding seniors: The Otto Melito award — excellence in Biology. Chemistry, Physics. The Roger B. Sayor Medal — excellence in Science. The William Pecora Medal and cash award — initiative and creativity in Science. The Rensselaer Medal — Academic excellence in Science. Bausch and Lomb Medal — Academic excellence in Science. Math Is it inches or meters? How do you use a computer? Is there a new math? In answeiing some of these questions the Mathematics Department stimulates the students to develop a working knowledge of basic math skills in preparation for employment or daily life. Courses for the college bound students or the exceptional individual are in the math curriculum.
