In addition to the regular math courses offered at Barringer, students are now able to elect courses that involve the understanding and knowledge of computer use. Along with the usual courses the English department offers the student the opportunity to involve himself in a variety of learning experiences. The school Newspaper Acropolis, the Dramatic production Prisoner of Second Avenue presented in April, and the newly revived Literary Magazine gives the student a greater perspective of the English language. Also representatives from IBM and Bell Howell visited the Senior English classes to aid in the students future career planning. An im-promtu visit was made to the school by the channel five newsteam, and the Senior English Honors class was videotaped for television. In the regular course of study the mandatory offerings emphasize the functional use of language and communication skills, writing and various forms of literature. At the end of the Senior year many awards are given to distinguished graduates in English related projects.
