The arts embellish our lives with beauty and develop within us greater understanding of life. In so doing, the arts add new dimensions to our lives. The truer meaning of life is more easily perceived through the arts. Man's soul cries out for expression. and the arts are the most effective instruments to communicate man’s most revealing and inspired thoughts. New insights are unveiled for our consideration. The mind hungers for truth and guidance. Talented and perceptive artists illuminate our minds and show us the new directions that mankind should consider. The arts have the capacity to remind us of our noblest purposes and the innate dignity and significance of life. Nature in all its glory and wonder vividly portrayed by word and by brush. When life is bitter and disappointments unbearable, the arts lift our spirits and contribute to our resiliency. In making us aware of the essential values of life, the arts are a civilizing influence. It is interesting to observe that all world civilizations are evaluated and measured by their artistic achievements. Qtit. Qtttavm S i jmi z edica iisn The deed is everything, the glory, naught.” With enthusiastic acclaim, the Class of January 1962. is proud to dedicate this Yearbook to Mr. Marvin Shlofmitz, who has whipped and cajoled so many Yearbooks from precarious infancy to dignified debut. Keeping a journalistic secret from our alert adviser involved duplicity for which, we hope, we are now forgiven. By all who come within the circle of his influence Mr. Shlofmitz is respected for his integrity and patient understanding. His witty sense of humor and practical outlook are successful aids in his efforts to guide his students toward the goals of scholarship, service, and spiritual values. He realizes, also, the teacher's responsibility to the community and cheerfully contributes much time and labor to Barringer’s P.T.S.A. We. the Graduating Class of January 1962. are grateful for the opportunity to say. Thank you. Mr. Shlofmitz. 6
