Quiet, retiring and efficient also suit Julia to a T. Her modesty hidos her great talent in the field of music. She is an accom- plished pianist, but she also plays the clarinet and has a better than average voice. As one of the Associate Editors of tho Athenaeum, she does her job well. EDITORIAL Like thousands of other students in this year of 1945. we go from the classroom into a serious world, a world determined to make peace on earth a reality. We know that America is still at war. but we also know that the end of that war is in sight. We are content to become a part of a new life, for we are certain that we shall be better able to cope with the problem of living than most people. What we have gained in our four years at Barringer, over and above knowledge learned of books, has given us an insight into the true meaning of democracy, a better understanding of our fellow men. and the courage to face whatever may lie before us. If. in selecting a theme for this book, we have seemed at times to dwell upon the lighter side of our school experiences, please forgive us. We are simply attempting to escape for a little while the serious tone of the world of which we shall soon become a part. The Editors.
