GA RY STAVIG Nowadays every man wants l1fe l1b erty and an aucomob1le 1n wluch to pursue happmess JOAN OLSON She has a flu-txve look 1n her eye I ,,,..-.--.hw RICHARD MITTLESTADT The fellow who thxnks hxm self a w1t 1n usually half r1ght CLARA JONES Whenever everyone tends lus own bus 1ness news 15 scarce JAMES JOHNSON Ideas are such funny thlngs, they never work unless you do S PAUL SHERVEY It xs better to wear out than to rust out MARY SKAGA If you can't make hght f your troubles keep them m the dark DA RA LD BAYERKOHLER I-Ie found that what he want ed was always 1llegal lm moral or fattenxng SHIRLEY HANSEN Free as mountam wmds CHARLES OLSON You can't fool all the people all the time but xt xsn necessary A majorxty w1ll do ' o 1 1 ' 't . . . - .X , , ' . s Y ' UA C aaa .jwlm lorg One day 1n early September 1953 twenty freshmen entered Barrett H1gh School We elected Gary Stav1g and Mrs Stensland to head our class through our f1rst year One Monday 1n October we all rece1ved attract1ve 1nv1tat1ons from our sophomore fr1ends statmg that we should come to school the followmg Frlday dressed very form ally Fr1day came brlnglng w1th lt a group of twenty freshmen marchmg 1nto the school dressed 1n the1r 1n1t1at1on glad rags Homecommg was the same day as our 1n1t1at1on One freshman got out of all the paradmg we d1d to the football f1eld because she Ga1l Sprouls was our Queen cand1 date One day 1n walked a small boy who claxmed h1s name was Gerald Sunde and that he was also a freshman We were all very happy to have another member 111 our class Twenty proud Sophomores walked 1nto Barrett Hxgh School 1n September of 1954 We lost James Haldorson who dec1ded to attend school 1n Bransv1lle Two weeks after school started we dec1ded to have Mr Felber and Sh1rley Anderson lead us through the year Our most fun that fall was bemg able to 1n1t1ate the freshmen We elected our pres1dent Slurley Anderson to be our Queen cand1date Durmg the Spr1ng the upper classmates had a Prom and Banquet The Sophomore gxrls were waxtresses dressed as Hawauan dancers As Jumors we started the year 1955 w1th seventeen We were sorry to lose three classmates, Ga1l Sprouls Mar1on Thompson and Stanley M1les Dxane Tonsfeldt and Mrs Qu1st were our gu1des through the Junlor year We dec1ded to have a better home comlng than 1n years before Therefore each class elected both a K1ng and queen and the classes went together and made floats Darald Bayerkohler and Clara Jones were our K1ng and Queen cand1dates The Junlors and semors made thexr float together and won f1rst pr1ze Our theme for homecommg was Plow Underwood Under The second week of November we put on two one act plays W1lbur's W1ld Nlg and L1fe ofthe Party We planned to take a trxp durmg our semor year so we dec1ded to have a food sale to ra1se money Thxs was very successful On May 4 1956 he Jun1ors put on a Banquet and Prom We decorated the gym usmg the theme Under Western Skmes The sp1r1t of the old west preva1led ,At the begmmng of th1s our last year we numbered flfteen sen1ors Jan Arthun and Mrs Oulst held the re1ns through our imal year Th1s was to be a very busy year for us A new project we took over was the sale of candy mn the school For th1s year's homecommg Wallace Powers and Mary Skaga were chosen to re1gn as K1ng and Queen of Barrett I-hgh Also the semor s float won f1rst place Our homecomxng theme was 'Scalp the Warr1ors December 6 1956 the semors put on thexr class play Orchxds and Onlons On May Z3 1957 we left by tram for a four day tr1p to Chxcago We had a very enjoyable tlme there We f1n1shed our last day rn Barrett 1-hgh School on May Z9 1957, when we recexved our dlplomas 1 , . , - .
