Yould think her gifted with winged feet: Though small of stature, you'll certainly find That she is endowed with a wonderful mind. Louise is a brilliant, young lady, an excellent athlete, and a very successful beau-catcher. She holds the unique position of being the fastest and most incessant talker in school. Her ruling passion is to annoy the teachers. She is a good student, especially in Latin. She can read more Latin between the first and second periods than anybody in Christendom. We must not forget her proficiency in explaining English, especially those parts dealing with the delicate subject Love, although she declares she has had no experience. XIRCJINIA PALLINE QOOPLR 'NIILES F CRAWLEY in Girls Roott rs Qlub Her record is brilliant you ll find Should you search it o er Truly we have for excellence Ne'er seen the like before. Virginia is mild-eyed. quiet, ladylike. Several years ago she came to us from Smith Mills and will some day do something brilliant. A hard worker and unusually bright, as shown by her short high school career of only three years. A loyal adherent to the prohibition cause. and we fear she will later drift into the suffragette ranks. She is a kind and good- hearted person with a sweet, winning smile. which she never springs on the gentlemen. A good person to talk to on any subject, for her ideas are always good. A most studious girl of exemplary hahits. I5 Profs ssor Well is hc nicknamed Professor So quid dignified and staid His cheeks rosy as the dawn of day Have won the heart of a maid, they say. The Professor is a tall and dignified Senior, with cheeks that put the roses to shame and who awes the Freshmen with his haughty carriage. He says little, hears more and thinks most. He is not much of a lady's man, hut something tells me he has one stowed away somewhere. He is one of those calm specimens of humanity, who is not frustrated. either by an earthquake or chemistry explosion. Agood- natured sort of a fellow whom everybody likes. At a glance one might believe that he is inclined to be distant. but after association with him for four years. we conclude that he is a good fellow, after all. e11f.51':'I'22'-z. ,. . Miss Ruth Mitchell the worlds famous artist has for the last five years been mixing paint and mortar so that when the great bridge is finished she will color the moon and mould it to the shape of woman The world will have a new ideal The peaceful loving face of woman instead of the cursed face of man After boarding the train for Washington D C we are again astounded at the prominence of a woman conductor when in a stentorian voice Vera Phillips demands tickets As we disembark from the train at Washington Miss Zulah Hicks steps forward and calls Baggage? Taxi? and again to our amazement shoulders two trunks and walks off uncermoniously Oh' the power of woman' We board the taxi and are carried away to the White House We go in to pay President Esther Cummlngs a visit She seemed very glad to see us though burdened with the cares of her office Going into the Senate we were just in time to hear that eloquent speech of Senatoress Mary Davis of Ky.. which would rival Cicero, Resolved: That man's place is in the home. ln a few minutes she is opposed by Senatoress Sudie Letcher Farley from Utah, who maintains that men should be given a voice in the city affairs and no more. After so much mental exertion and believing a little recreation beneficial, we go out to the ball park where the New York cubs and Boston Red Sox are to play. We find that Miss Eugenia Griffith, that idol of the entire baseball world and rival pitcher of the Woman's League, is a leader of the Red Sox. We now board the wireless transic for Louisville. the method of transportation invented by that great electrical V. . Time and again he would break through the opposing line and tackle his man for a loss, and would always open a hole when called upon. This is Bullets first year on the team, and he has two more years, so that great things are expected of him in the future. The only reason why he was not on the team last year was that he was hurt in the first game of the season, and so prevented from making the team. More than two teams were always present at practice. When practice started there were only two of the last y:ar's H men remaining, namely Gardner and Lynn. llowever, with these two men and a large and efficient squad to draw from, the coach evolved a championship basketball team. The team this year maintained its reputation of playing fairly and fiercely. Our games were won by splendid team work, great speed, and accurate goal throwing. Rough playing was never resorted to, as it was not necessary. The prospects for next year are exceptionally good. Only one player will be lost by graduation, and with the material on hand there should not be a great deal of trouble in filling that place. The attendance at all our games was fairly good but not many of the students attended The attendance would probably be better if there were a larger floor with betterseatin facilities than thosefurmshed by theY M C A gymnasium On an I5 we opened the season at Evansville The team was not organized well for this game and had only had three or four days of practice The strange floor also placed the boys at a disadvantage and so with all these things against them as well as a good fast team the whistle finally blew with the score 45 to 28 in Evansvilles favor In the next game we got revenge on our old rivals Owensboro came down prepared to take off the honors but after the lesson of the first game and the memory of last Thanksgiving Day the team rolled up a score of 34 to 20 Owensboro tried a little rough playing toward the last but it was of no availg the fates had decreed, and the Owensboro team went away without the victory. The next game was also one of revenge. Luck had gone against us in the first Evansville game, but on Feb. 5. they came down and got a return dose. The game was fast and interesting, but in spite of all E'town could do, they were sent home defeated by the score of 31 to 27. The team went to Mt. Vernon, Ind., for the next game. Although this game was played on a strange floor, it was quite a walk-a-way. A good many of the second team men were used. The Mt. Vernon team simply was not in our class. They did not know much basketball and our team simply outclassed them. When the final whistle blew' the score stood 41 to I4 in our favor. ..,.,. ss-. -x -'f,'g..,'.--.Flys -,,. fi -... 1- --.,.. .
