Baseball season was just around the corner and Walter Talancy, Richard Celona, Harry Corbett Lanny Foss, Frank Mercik, Joe Adomaitis and Paul Whippef made the team In April the Barre Kiwanis Club sponsored a science fair and we had some winners B111 Cilley came in first for the boys, Beryl Dickson second and Madeline Marsella third in the girls' Division That same month the American legion honored four girls and two boys by selecting them to attend Massachusetts Girls' State and Boys' State They were Virginia Varnot and Madeline Marsella, representatives, Beryl Dickson and Joan Werner, alternates and Lanny Foss, representative, and Harry Corbett, alternate June came faster than usual for us and we sadly bid farewell to our friends, who were graduating Remember how complacently we entered the doors of B H S for the fourth and final year We looked at the freshmen and wondered, 'Was I that small once?' Room 7 was our home room and Mrs McMurray our advisor The class officers were Bob Trio President, James Potter Vice President, Lorraine Adomaitis Secretary, Beryl Dickson Treasurer, and Lanny we welcomed Tom Gezork to our class Our first big affair as seniors was the bazaar under the chairmanship of Lanny Foss Our time and effo1ts cer tainly paid off financially and socially Our next event was the Senior Tea with Lorraine Adomaitis as chairman It was held in the Assembly hall, our parents had a chance to meet the faculty, and the food and entertainment were wonder ful Everyone agreed we were socially competent Three months had already flown by and we prepared for the annual Alumni Social with Earl Clem as chairman Strict ly a social affair, we entertained the alumni with carols, presented gifts CB1ll Cilley acting as Santal, and danced tirelessly After Ch istmas, rehearsals for the play IT WALKS AT MIDNIGHT were started Do you remember the fun we had at rehearsals? And can we ever fomget how the cast looked at dress rehearsals? The play was a mystery comedy which kept the audience roaring with laughter and filled with sus pense At this same time others of us were busy on the basket ball court Harry Corbett and Walter Talancy, and Nancy Bacon and Ginger Varnot were co captains of the boys' and girls' varsity, respectively And then our last venture before graduation the long awaited trip to Washington and New York arrived We had looked foreward to it fo the past three years and our dream was finally realized June 16 we received our diplomas and left Barre High School, proud to call it our Alma Mater. ' A J Foss the Student Council Representative. later that year
