Curriculum Class History When we began our struggling high school days as a class of fifty-:one green and eager freshmen in Sept. 1955 , we did not realize the importance of a high school ed- ucation. Little did we know that the time could pass so quickly and that the day would soon come when we would receive our diplomas. Our first order of business was the election of class officers with the following freshmen chosen: President, Iudeanne Sellers: Vice-President, Sue O'Connor7 Secretary, Iudy Dayp Treasurer, Beverly Walker: Student Councilman, Tony Clements. Our sponsors were Mr. George Cropp and Mr. William Feagans. During the first semester we had a class party and a school skating party, and went to the Evansville Zoo for our class trip, ending with a skating party at Petersburg. Judy Day was nominated freshman basketball queen candidate. DAVIESS-MARTIN R. E. M. C. MIDWAY CAFE

There were forty-one of us who returned to the sophomore ranks with Mr. George Cropp as sponsor. We chose as our class officers: President, Tony Clements: Vice- President, Sue O'Connor: Secretary, Iudy Day: Treasurer, Beverly Walker. Our social activities for the year included a Christmas party at St. Peter's and the school skating party. Our sophomore candidate for Basketball Queen was Iudeanne Sellers. Because of the fire which destroyed the high school on March 1, 1957, we had to set up emergency headquarters at the National Guard Armory in Washington. This dis- heartening blow made us realize how much our school had meant to us. Thirty-four of us enrolled for the junior year. The class officers were: President, Tony Clements: Vice-President, Tom Michaels: Secretary, Iudy Day: Treasurer, Beverly Walker. Our class sponsors were Mr. Harbstreit and Mrs. Fitzpatrick who helped us with a bean supper and carnival. Our junior candidate for basketball queen was Linda Mangin. A Since there had not been any action in regard to the reconstruction of our high school building, the entire student body went on a strike, which produced the necessary re- sults--definite plans were made to start the new building. We were in charge of the biggest social event of the year, the Junior-Senior Prom. Our theme was Honolulu Moon . After spending many hours working on the paper leis and drawing the scenery, the result-s were rewarding. At last the long awaited moment came, and on Ianuary 19, 1959, we moved from the National Guard Armory into the new high school building from which we will be the first class to graduate. As we draw near the end of the stretch, there are still twenty-eight die-hards re- maining. Our class officers are: President, Donald Colvin: Vice-President, Tony Clements: Secretary, Iudy Day: Treasurer, Beverly Walker. Mrs. Fitzpatrick and Mr. Harbstreit faithfully remain with us. Patty Sellers, the senior candidate, was crowned basketball queen. Now that it is time for our annual to go to press, we are still looking forward to the presentation of our class play, Orchids to Lori , which is under the direction of Mrs. Craney and Mrs. Batchelor, our class trip to Washington D. C. and New York, the Junior- Senior Prom, and graduation, which will be the last official act of business for the Class of '59 . Our Class flower is the American Beauty Rose. Our class colors are Blue and White. Our Class Motto is TODAY'S WORK IS TOMORROW'S SUCCESS.
