Class History In the fall of 1947, fifty-one high-spirited freshmen from Central, Kalevala, and Mahtowa, with the former students, made an entrance into the hallowed halliof Barnum High School. It may not have been a dramatic one but at least it was a noisy one. Our class adviser was Mr. Campbell, and Jim Thompson was elected class president. The next year, Virginia Ellsworth from Middletown, Iowa and Adeline Hautajarvi of Moose Lake joined us in the trek to the day of graduation. We had a wonderful Christmas party in the Home Ec. room with Miss Olson, our adviser. Our junior year had many new activities in store for us. Our class play, There Go the Grooms. was presented and everyone agreed it was a hilarious comedy. To break tradition, we sponsored a prom-banquet with a Hawaiian theme and our Aloha to the seniors. Our class adviser was Miss Amundson, and Betty Wappula, class president. Finally - we're seniors! Mr. Skellenger has been our able adviser and Tom Jeffers, our class president. Up to now, we've been a boisterous group but we've become more dignified and quiet. The trip to Duluth to have our pictures taken by Dworshak was truly a nice day off. The usual custom was changed in our Homecoming with the coro- nation of the King and Queen held in the evening. Our float won first prize in the parade which was also held in the evening. We lost two members of our class this year. Loren Anderson moved to attend school in Iowa and Charles Tuholski stayed in Oregon when he went there during Christmas vacation. Our class had participated in most school activities. Fourteen boys in our class were on the football squad this year and three boys on the basketball team. Three boys were on the track team. Ten members of our class have been in band and most of us joined choir and glee club. ' We have enjoyed the days at Good Old Bamum High and would even linger longer if it were not that we must move on! 8
