ICE HOCKEY Under the direction of Coaches Elliott MacSwan and john Donahue. Barnstable launched its first season of ice hockey. An intramural league of four teams was formed, and from this, an all-star team was chosen to play other schools. This team played the first Cape Interscholastie Hockey game against Cloucester, los- ing 4-1. Coach MacSwan hopes that this will lead to an organized league. The girls, field hockey team has had a victorious season this year even though they had to work under adverse conditions. Each day they had to travel back and forth between the high school and the junior high for practice. Not in the least discouraged, the girls were not only undefeated but unscored on in their six games. XVe feel justified in being proud of this team and of their coach. Miss Kay Nehubian. In their bright red and white uniforms. the girls looked very pert and peppy. The squad was led lay co-captains Sandra Hirsch and Phoebe Cook, who deserve much credit for a job Well done. VARSITY CLUB The Varsity Cluli. eomposed of students who had won their letters in the various sports and activities, was sponsored hy Nlr. Shields this year to help arouse school spirit.
