Pierce, VV. Dow, W. Ke FOGTBALL A newcomer to Barnstable, Coach john Hughes. took over the reins of the Raider football team this year. XVith assistant coaches john Donahue and Dwight Coggeshall, he busily set to the task of introducing a new system and fashioning a smooth working unit to face the rugged schedule. Coach Hughes soon found the going rough with the loss of key players. through injuries. and the lack of depth. However. Co-captains Leonard Duchesnev and David Lewis. and backfield men Chuck Converse and Peter Larkin kept the team going tlirough a rather rough and discouraging season. Highlights of the season were victories over Hing- ham and Cantong the selection of David Lewis and Peter Larkin on the honorable mention All-State Teamg and the selection of Peter Brune. out most of the season with injuries. as an All-Cape Tackle.
