September, 19 7, saw twenty-two soared, green freshman enter Barn- eveld High under the leadership of Mr. O'Neil. Since it was the first year of Union Free, we weren't the only new faces around. Initiation we won't forget----caster oil, axle grease, and the rest. Even the in- dividual things were fun. Lit . i LORENE TOLLISON Pork Chop - By the holy holy She has really quite a Rep, For being fun and full of pep. As sophomores we really studied, and we all got good grades. Since we were the only ambitious class and wanted good times we sponsored many parties. The one that will be remembered longest was the square dancing party which everyone en- joyed. At least there was variety in partners. Juniors, oh brother, upperclassmen, aren't we big now! Picking out rings was something we had always dreamed of--------finally we were wearing them. Of course when we initiated the freshmen we did nothing mean at all, except lead them down the steps with a few stops. We did have a dls- appointment when they said no class play—didn't get a chance to show our talent. The biggest thing of the year was the Prom. The theme was April Showers ; the colors, pastel pink, yellow, green and white. The garden was in the middle, even though some didn't want it there. Nice walk back to the Ag room for punch ! The Prom pictures were really snazzy. In our senior year we foundt we had lost only four members. They were Beatrice Moyer, who is Mrs. Lloyd Buckingham, Dorothy Urfer, who is Mrs. Marvin Kelly, Josephine Thuli, who transferred to Spring Green, and Alan Christiansen, who enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Harvey Frye also was with us for a while. Because there was whole new teaching staff, we, as seniors, tried to give them the impression we knew it all. They soon found out differently. Boy---what trouble trying to decide on the announcements. The boys lost that round—leave it to the girls. After much worry by all,the class play Bill's Night Out was a success. Believe it or not we even knew our parts with a little help on the side. Having our pictures taken gave us a half a day off, which we needed badly. Seems some of the boys had bananas, ice cream cones,and mice in their pockets. Wonder how they got there??????? It was hard finding a homecoming date—guess the boys liked going to other towns on Friday nights. Finally we found one and the night was a big success. The other senior parties were fun too. What the olass of 1951 didn't think of isn't worth mentioning. 8

Jk omecomincj. Many Barneveld High School graduates returned to their Alma Mater for the annual Homecoming game and dance on January 10, 1951. Both A and BM teams were victorious over Montfort High for the anxious and enthusiastic crowd. Dancing followed the game with music by Dan Garson's orchestra.. At eleven o'clock the orchestra signaled the crowd to make ready for the crowning ceremony. Sue Ann Arneson led the procession, followed by the Queen, Judy Watson and King, Bud Erickson. They formed a semi-circle in the center of the gym with the rest of the court: Dorothy Evans escorted by Bob McSherry, Carol Freidli escorted by Gerry Bertram, Leone Retrum escorted by Gary Massey, Margareth Hosking escorted by Jerry Blaser. After the speeches Marilyn Schaller crowned the Queen with a band of yellow roses. Lawrence Arnold wills his brains to Raymond Duerst. Marlene .Blaser wills her laughing ability to Ethel Owens. gonna Branker wills her Hallandale dances to Carol riedli. Donna Bunbury wills her height to Dick Moyer. Billy Campbell wills his big feet to Jerry Blaser. Helen Dennis wills her ability to catch men to any one who wants it. Elizabeth Dlmpf1 wills her ability to tell jokes to future comedians of the Junior Class. Charles Bud Erickson wills his atlas build to Dennis Duerst. Dorothy Evans wills her ability to get along with people to Betty Anderegg. Carol Eveland wills her long walk up the hill to anyone who will take it. Eugene Gilbertson wills his abil- ity to keep quiet to Billy Olson. Ronald Goke wills his ability to slide around corners to Peter Tralnor. Lorene Tolllson wills her ability to tend bar to anyone who intends to be a bartender. Dorothy Marty wills all her Mt. Horeb dances to Delores Rolstad. Witt Betty Marty wills h r ability to keep time to Irene Week. Helen Mellj wills her muscle to Ethel Erickson as she plans to be a future wrestler in G.A.A. Donald Moyer wills his ways of getting girls to the Freshmen boys . Vincent Ryan wills his ability to get along with all the teachers to Robert Tollison. Bob McSherry wills all his New Year's Eve parties to Jim Leary. Eleanor Moyer wills her gym class to Leatrlce Retrum. In conclusion, we, the Seniors of 1951, leave our initiative to the Freshmen class; our class spirit to the Sophomores; to the Juniors, our willingness; and to Barneveld, we leave our memory. 9
