FACULTY SENIORS UNDERCLASS ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVITIES SPORTS ADS 5 8 liture 4S HOOL LEVY 1 JAMES ALBERT WRIGHT Mr.James Wright, our super- intendent, served as executive head of Mt. Pleasant before com- ing to Barnesville. This is his second year with us and he has won the admiration and respect of the entire community. He worked ceaselessly for the bond issue and said after its pas- sage: The true and representa- tive attitude of the citizens of the Barnesville Exempted Village School District was exhibited on November 8, 1966 by means of public support of a high school bond issue and operating levy . The Board of Education, school administration, school personnel, and most of all boys and girls ex- press their thanks. We shall endeavor to plan and construct the most functionable building possible for the needs of the school district.” After his second year as princ- ipal in Barnesville High School, Mr. Bonvenuto has found the stu- dents, the faculty, and the com- munity to be congenial and coop- erative in adhering to school reg- ulations . Receiving his first education at Point Marion High School, Point Marion, Pennsylvania, Mr. Bon- venuto continued his studies at Fairmont State College. He re- turned to school to receive his Master’s degree at West Virginia University after he served in the Armed Forces. As a former coach, Mr. Bon- venuto has conveyed his enthusi- asm and interest in our football team that helped us become the OVAC ”AA champs. As an edu- cator, sports fan, and especially a kind, firm principal, Mr. Bon- venuto is respected throughout the school and community. 10 FRED D. The Seniors--we have been called a different class, and indeed we are. We strive to be individuals and have madea name for ourselves--agood name. We hope others will remember, as we will, the events that gave us our name: the trophy-winning plays High Window and Ring intheGroom, the junior class minstrel, the senior class play, the 1966-67 victorious sports seasons, and the out- standing members of the class who have done Barnesville of '67 proud. As our adventurous years of high school come to a close we reflect on our different class . We realize that we like being this way and know that we, as individuals, will make a name for ourselves, a good name. Once again the curtains are about to be drawn, but this time on the third act of the great drama High School. We Juniors have been working hard to play our parts well, and we feel that we are on our way to success. We have enjoyed all the activities associated with Juniors: selecting class rings, the play, the PROM , and the delightful feeling that comes with being an upperclassman! The third act is over and at long last we hope to be ready for the climax--our senior year at B.H.S. Sophomores are the in-between class in school, yet we feel we have excelled in athletics, leadership, and scholarship. We feel as if a class in high school can be compared to a rocket. As freshmen, the rocket blasts off on its way to higher elevations. This year our class represents the rocket without its first stage. As we climb higher and higher, we feel that we will be ready to shed our second stage, and with our engine booster soar our way straight to the top--graduation. We are Freshmen. We have finished the first year of our High School days at Barnesville High. We ad- mit our first day was hectic. The sounding of bells , rooms that all seemed alike and strange faces caused a few frantic moments. Soon we fell into the swing of things and awaited the first football game. We cheered loudly and proudly as our team won the OVAC champ- ionship. Later in the year we demonstrated our ini- tiative by selling school pennants and even shining shoes. Now, we are ready to embark on our Sophomore year. But we will always remember the fun and ex- citement of our Freshman year at a great school-- Barnesville High. 53 Ralph Adkins Judy Allar Helen Anderson Bob Anderson Shirley Anderson Teresa Anderson Jane Armstrong Marcia Bean Gary Beck Barbara Betts Cathy Campbell Terry Castello Fred Claugus Debbie Clift Susie Cook Karen DePew Dave Detling Bill Diab Mark Dietrich Clarence Doudna John Doudna Karen Drake Jim Farson Shelia Flowers John Fluharty Dickie Bunting Larry Burghy Gladys Burris Tom Butler 54 Tom Fogle Mickey Frasher John Gibson David Giffin Denny Gray Ren e Grey Paula Grier Mike Grubb Mary Hall Linda Hanes Brenda Hartley Elizabeth Hartley Mary Hasbrouck Mary Hickenbottom Tony Householder Debbie Howell Don Howiler Mike Hughes Bruce Jefferis Tom Johnson Mike Keylor Patricia Kirk Paul Kirk Connie Long Terry Long Brenda Lucas Bonnie Lynn Todd Lynn Toni Mankin John Mayberry Mary McBride Patti McConnell Don McCort Linda McCracken 55 ) Mary Murphy Charles Noland Becky Orr Cheryl Patterson Romona McEndree Betty McGinnis Bradley McGlumphy Eleanor Mellott Jeanie Mercer Brenda Merritt Francis Miller Tom Miller Jeff Minder Patty Moore Vicki Moore Greg Moreland Claudine Morgan Gordon Morris Bruce Morrison Vicki Pfeffer Darrell Phillips Mark Plumly Rena Plumly Bobbie Poulton Bob Powell Susan Reynolds Patty Riser Chris Robinson Ida Roby Thomas Rockwell Jill Schmitthenner Thomas Secrest Allen Shaw Joyce Shipley 56 Linda Skinner Luci Skoda Mike Smith Mary Stanley Richard Starr Dennis Steed Mike Stephens Gary Stephens Larry Stephens James Stottler Nancy Street William Sullivan Chris Swallie David Swallie Debra Taylor Tom Timmons Janet Tipton Fred Toohey Rodney Toohey Deborah Travis Debbie Warrick Sharon Warrick Becky Wehr Pam Wilson Not Pictured: Rodney Brown Ed Bussell Bob Stanfield Hughey Stephens 57 SMOLLVZINVOHO STUDENT COUNCIL ROW 1: Sally Cheffy, Jody Nichols, Jane Hall, Mary K. These good performances did not happen at a snap of a finger, for one could often hear the drum beat long after dark, indicating band practice. One duty the band did not have to practice and never got tired of doing was the snake dance, for it meant victory. Besides half-times shows, the band had to rehearse for the Canton Foot- ball Hall of Fame Parade, the Wheeling Christmas parade, and District Band Contest. Looking back over the year the band has had much mud, much hard work, and much fun. 82 Supporting Our Team Practicing? Concerts and Contest MAJORETTES Mary K.
