At the central oftice I met Mrs. Gill, the school secretary. I was posi- tively amazed at the amount of work she completed each day. Of course while ioining in the activities, I decided to try out for one of the class plays. But Mrs. Goforth ,finding my voice a little gruff , suggested that I attend one of her Public Speaking or English classes. Maybe l'll have a better chance next year. Since being the outdoor type is my specialty, I went to see Mr. Kaiser, the Vo-Ag instructor. He teaches the Ag boys how to run a farm. I looked up Mr. Hobensack to help me with my income tax. I learned a lot in his business training class and bookkeeping classes. I stopped in Room 2 to see how the Senrab was coming along. Mrs. Leach was there writing a lot of wavy lines which didn't make much sense to me. Not only does she teach shorthand, but also typing. I think she did a fine iob in supervising the publication of this yearbook. Don't you? I found Miss McClung in the library dusting books. She seemed a little startled to see me and said Que es esto? Soy loco? Besides teaching Spanish and English, she is head li- brarian. If you ever develop a temperature as I once did, iust go see Mrs. Matthews, the school nurse. She'll fix you up in a iifify. It seemed that every time I pass the oFfice I see Mr. Nicholson, assistant principal, writing out excuses. He teaches General Science, Plane Geometry, General Math, and Algebra. KATHRYN S, Glll. Dear Friends, lam having so much fun at B. H. S. l first met the Superintendent, Mr. Shepherd. I liked him immediately, as everyone does, for his good humor and his ability to run the school smoothly. Next came his right-hand man Mr. Shelby, the B. H. S. Principal. Things are going so well, there must not be much difiference between a bas- ketball coach and Principal-it's all team work. Among my acquaintances is Mr. Berryhill. Between the sounds of sour band notes and flat tires on the Driv- er's car, it is a wonder that his smile doesn't wear oFf. Miss Bloss spends some time in making girl athletes, and the rest in making the government known to brilliant I?l Seniors. My vision was obstructed by broad shoulders topped with red hair. This l learned was Coach Davis whose duties are to put Barnesville on the map with sports. Not only is Miss Deaver back of the Shamrock in the Enterprise, but she also teaches English Literature, American Literature, World Geography, and how to have a sense of humor. Delicious smells led me to the new Home Economics rooms. Miss Gibson, Home Economics Teacher, convinced me cooking and sewing could be fun. JACK BERRYHILL MARY IDA BLOSS B S In Ed M A A.B. To brush up on my Latin, I went to see Mrs. Shepherd. Not only does she teach Latin, but also General English, Sophomore English and Civics. Mr. Smarto's Sociology and Commercial Problems classes were very educational, but I enjoyed his journeys into the mysteries of American and World History much better. I heard sawing and hammering and found Mr. Squibb instructing some boys on how to repair this or that. He showed me how not to cut my paw. Out in the hall Mr. Thomas was struggling with a slide rule. Besides teaching General Sci- ence, Physics, and Advanced Math., he is also Principal of the grade school. I walked into the Biology room and got the shock of my life. That nice Mr. War- field, who has an American History class, was cutting up a frog. I heard the sound of an explosion and rushed out to find an even greater shock. The General Science, Chemistry teacher, and orchestra director, Mr. Webster had lit a match too close to a hydrogen generator. To relax my nervous system I traveled to the cafeteria where I found the music teacher, Miss Whitlatch directing the B. H. S. Chorus in a beautiful number. My ears found it hard to leave the cafeteria, but my eyes led me to the gym where I saw Miss Van Osdol, the art teacher, painting a stage setting. After meeting all these nice teachers I can well understand why the Barnes- ville students enjoy going to school so much. I really am enjoying my stay here. And guess what! The Senrab Staff is using my visit as their theme this year. That meansIWIbeappeadngthroughoutthebook Loads of bear hugs BARNEY ALMA SHEPHERD FRANCIS SMARTO D. B. SQUIBB LOUIS W.
