Thus in the main the dreams will be fulfilled, and the hopes that prevail over fears are justified. - Osbert Sitwell The Four Continents' TABLE QED E EGATEQN .............. Ffa Ms. joan Twaddle, Headmistress Dear Seniors: More than a hundred years ago Henry David Thoreau wrote in WALDEN . . . if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. This quotation has always meant a great deal to me and I am happy to share it with you. Certain words are especially important to meg I hope they will be to you, too. The first word is confidently, During your years at Barnard we have tried to help you gain confidence in yourself and in your talents. You may not realize how much you have learned here, but I hope you will never hesitate to attempt the new and the unfamiliar. The second word is endeavors, It means to try, to risk, to work. The third word is dreams This implies that you have an idea, however, inchoate, ofwhat you want in your future. So . . . dream, and work, and move ahead with confidence - and remember all of us at Barnard. Fondly, I-Ieadmistress .Z 'Q if ,..,. I SYJ -.1 E. There are photographs to be taken, layouts to be arranged, deadlines to be met, and ads to be sold. It is a time of concern for every senior. Yet through it all, we worked toward our goal, and in these pages lies the proof. As you glance through the Mirror, I hope your heart will be touched and you will remember what being part of the Barnard family is all about. I know that I personally could not have been happier anywhere else, and that I am leaving Barnard with fond feelings for my teachers and friends. With these words I say good-bye. I wish only happiness and success to all those who follow. I sincerely hope that our yearbook may in the years to come remind us of moments that we all enjoyed.
