Dr. James J. Quinn Your relationship with us transcends ordinary teacher to student relationships. We have shared with you our inner- most fears and emotions through our writing, fears that we would normally keep bottled up inside. You gave us subtle hints in class, sometimes not so subtle, regarding these fears and in doing so have helped us immensely. You required an essay each week and although at times it was bothersome you made us think about things we normally would never think twice about. We thank you, Dr. Quinn, because you not on- ly started us on the path to make our dreams come true, you made us realize what they were as well. We shall always be indebted to you. lt is for these reasons that we, The Class of 1983, lovingly dedicate this yeargs Mirror to you.

Memories of the Senior Class remain after each graduation ceremony. These remembrances will contain the joys, sadnesses, and triumphs of the Class of 1983. Our class consists of twelve very individual and unique people. We will go our separate ways and seek different goals. However, as we discover our unknown paths, we will always remember the Dreams we had in high school. We wish to share these dreams with our fellow schoolmates and teachers, who have greatly contributed to their creation. We feel we have received the very finest of educations at Barnard, which leads us to dream of even greater achievements for our futures. We thank everyone at Barnard because we feel that in a way our dreams for the most pleasant things in life have been fulfilled in the time we spent together inside these walls. The Seniors

Dear Seniors: A yearbook remembers. It records not only the dreams, but also the memories of your school days together: experiences shared., difficulties endured, challenges met, problems solved. May this MIRROR serve you well as a record of both dreams and memories, and may they both be sweet! Most of you are useventeenf' You have accomplished a great deal in your lives so far. In another 17 years you will be ushering in the 21st century, and what a century that will be! By the year 2000 you will be 34 years old and assuming roles of leadership in the world of tomorrow. Old restrictions of time and space and stereotyped jobs will have vanished. You will be living in a world we can scarcely imagine. Most of you will have graduated from college and probably also from graduate school. Most of you will have had several years of working in a profession or a business, perhaps more than one. Most of you will have married and started families of your own. You will be living and working and raising families in an altogether different kind of world from anything we know of today. However, the eternal values and the standards that you have learned from your parents and from your school, and that you have incorporated into your own lives, will not change. They will remain constant and will stand you in good stead as you face an unknown world. I wish you courage and joy and success in all your endeavors as you go from the warmth and security of your school into the world of tomorrow. Good luck and lots of love, Eunice S. Latham
