Math Club By early March, the Math Club will reach its most active stage. Previously, it has been functioning for about nine weeks. The club is now one of the smoothest and most accomplished of the after-three organizations. Mr. Sterling, head of the Math Department, guides the club presenting various algebraic tricks and methods. The club started out with the small contingent of Paul Sapounakis, chairman, Steve Zizmor, Roger Zeeman, Steve Goldberger, and Marty Seelig. Soon, it attracted Henry Voelker, Bob Koch, Mike Conrad, Arthur May, Burton Levy Tom Shoesmith and a newcomer to the school Bob Billig Because the membership and the program are constantly enlarging the club can look forward to fruitful times together Chess Club The Chess Club at Barnard has two important pur poses It teaches the game of chess to those boys who want to learn while it offers at the same time an excellent opportunity for exciting contests between boys who already know the game The club under the direction of Mr Sterlin has had several successful arrange sexeral chess matches with other schools In this manner the members can put into practice what they have learned against other skilled opponents We are all quite sure that the chess club has been a great success this year 7 3 , , v , v I - , - , ' 4 . . . . g, and highly interesting meetings.
