'. gt ' s - an 5 ri' 1 l'?sTfifi to 1 f Class Day The three main purposes of Class Day were to CID present various athletic and service awards, CZQ have a high school commencement rehearsal and Q51 have the Faculty-Senior lunch and game. Mr. Rowley, Coaches Davis and Bock conducted the announc- ing and distribution of Varsity, junior Varsity, and Frosh letters for all spring sports. Major literary medals were given to Brian Gartner and Buzzy Marrow - Cbaulirleer editors, Andy Rabinowitz and Isaac Fleischer- Purple B editors, and Roger Zeeman - Bri: editor. Among the other notable events of the assembly was the presentation of a gift to Mr. Bock, who is leaving Barnard next year to further his studies. Don Franco, Student Council Vice- president, gave him a stunning key chain on behalf of the entire student body. Mr. Rowley was also the recipient of a touching gift when Roger Zeeman announced the yearbook dedication and offered him the first 1957 Barnard Brir. After a short graduation rehearsal all students except Seniors left school. Everyone en oyed a very pleasant half-day. The Seniors had a fine luncheon with the faculty. It was a great way to prelude the thrilling facutly-Senior softball game. Amazingly enough, the faculty managed to score a victory! Oh, well, wait 'till next year! Field Day After months of organization by the Student Council, the high school took a trip to Bear Mountain. The boys met in school at ten o'c1ock on the morning of june 3. Clad in neatly pressed dungarees, they boarded school buses for the trip to the Yonkers boat dock. On or about 11255, the Andrea Doria, Alexander Hamilton, or whatever you wish to call it, docked at the pier. From then on the excitement began. As the excursion passed the scenic route of the Hudson River shore line, the Barnardians took over the boat. Upon reaching Bear Mountain, the boys hiked to play fields and recreation areas. The next delight was lunch. How glad everyone was to see the good old Bickford sandwiches. Messrs. Sterling, Davis, Briggs, Feit, Lyon, and Bock distributed the food. At two o'c1ock the group scurried to the baseball fields, where juniors played Seniors and Sophomores played Freshmen with the aid of several teachers on all squads. Those who did not want to participate went skating, swimming, or used the archery ranges. At 5 150, after a delectible frankfurter treat, everyone returned to the boat. The trip back climaxed a terrific day and the entire high school is anxiously looking forward to next year's outing.
