These dues are to be used for the requisite-s of the club. Plans have been made for matches with other chess teams. Having as their supervisor Mr, Geyer, the members have become, under his guid- ance, very good chess players, and we know that they will be successful in their coming matches. The club is instituting a novel idea, a chess match by radio. The match is to be played by means of jim Ryan's sending and receiving set. The results will be interesting,

This year, the orchestra, as during the several preceding years, was under the direction of Mr. Lacy Coe, who contributed materially to the 'NWN-TW success of the orchestra by his experience and skillful leadership. The members of the orchestra took the opportunity to express to Mr. Coe their deep appre- ciation of his assistance and advice in his capacity as orchestra leader. Although the membership of the orchestra was smaller this year than for several seasons past, all of the members were boys who had played with the orchestra for several years and who were consequently well experienced along musical lines. Four of the orchestra members were Seniors who will graduate this year. The orchestra will miss them but is hoping to make up for their loss by the boys who will enter the High School next Fall from the Middle School. The orchestra played at practically all of the school functions during the year and acquitted itself commendably, the members at all times showing their willingness to cooperate with any group that was planning a school affair. Plans were made at the last meeting for the continuance of the orchestra next season and for the addition of new members. The olhcers for the year then handed in their resignations and the meet- ing was closed by the president. The Seniors who will leave the orchestra this year are: Howard Powell, Presidentg Granville Rogers, Vice-Presidentg Robert McKelvey, and Lawrence Evans.

The desired results were accomplished in due time and a good scholastic library has been achieved. Dance Committee Senior Dance Committee successfully brought to a close the social ac- tivities .at Barnard. The first dance of the year was following the Senior Q' Wai? l Dramatics. The music was furnished by the school orchestra. The juniors f . f'4lf,: : put on a splendid dance at the Riverdale Tennis Club, having the well- known Eddie Munn organization as the orchestra. The Senior Dance Committee was composed of Laurence Evans, Chairman, Peter Bedford, Leo Ehrhart, Jack Hanrahan, and Charles Bolton. The Radio Club V 724 N the light of the new emphasis upon clubs at Barnard, our Radio Club l y Q was formed to promote interest in sending and receiving. The members of the Club are: Elliott MCEldOWney James C, Ryan Chief Opemlor Preridezzt John T. Clarke Vice-Preriden! Walter L. McManus Leo Ehrhart Secretary Treazrzzrer The Club's purpose is to teach the fundamentals of radio, and to build and operate a radio station. The call letters of this station are WQJCS. The transmitter, contacting stations within a considerable radius, has attracted the interest and curiosity of the students, revealing to many of them for the first time this involved and fascinating hobby.
