Tl-lEl936BARNARDBRlC or f A if as H Student Council 'E :K HE Student Council is composed of the four officers of the Senior Class wg! and the presidents of the other three high school classes. This group is S 4 I li i , . 4- . ' under the supervision of Dr. Hazen, who is an ex othcio member. Prac- tically all of the disciplinary problems of the school come under the juris- diction of the Student Council, which has often proved its ability to cope with the questions it is called upon to settle. In spite of its rather stern duties, the Student Council has won the respect and admiration of the student body and the trust of the faculty, the members of which refer many of their disciplinary problems to the Council. It is through its wise and ethcient treatment of the many difficult problems presented to it for treatment, that the Student Council has become one of the leading school organizations. ' W ' 4 , 'll 'l, , ' ' l, ' W' 7' The Purple B NDER the leadership of its editor, jack Hanrahan, the Purple B had a ll W very successful as well as an extremely interesting season. The members of fi the board worked hard to turn out a successful paper and one that would maintain the high standards set by the boards of the preceding years. This year marked the sixteenth birthday of the Purple Although it is still far behind its big brother, the Eric in years, the Purple UB is growing rapidly and its success is attested by the eagerness with which each issue is greeted and the enthusiasm and support of the school toward this publication. The Purple B Board is composed chiefly of Seniors. The board also includes several juniors who have shown marked talent along literary lines, and so that the suc- ceeding boards will have experienced members among them when they take over the control of the school paper. The members of the board have worked hard this year to produce an interesting paper and we feel that their efforts have been crowned with the greatest success. The paper is extremely well managed and the members of the literary staff are to be congratulated for the capable way in which they have handled their assignments. Many of the boys comprising the Purple B Board are those who intend to enter the field of journalism after leaving school. The experience that they derive from the issuing of the Purple B cannot be overvalued. And for those who do not intend to follow this profession, the friendships made and the sense of responsibility attending membership of the board are experiences that will never be forgotten. The board has discharged its duties well and produced a paper that was worthy of its efforts. The members of the uBric Board would like to offer their congratulations and their best wishes to the members of the Purple B Board and to thank them for their efforts in behalf of the Purple Tl-lEl936BARNARDBRLC

Tl-lEI936BARNARDBRIC r ca he e e rswsvwei e as e r m The Orchestra W -g yiiei IT a recent meeting of the members of the Barnard Orchestra, called for the lb tl 'l t h ' fls 35 f 'll b ltt 1 purposc y ie presicen, t e season or 235- 1 was orma y rougi o 1 close. This year, the orchestra, as during the several preceding years, was under the direction of Mr. Lacy Coe, who contributed materially to the 'NWN-TW success of the orchestra by his experience and skillful leadership. The members of the orchestra took the opportunity to express to Mr. Coe their deep appre- ciation of his assistance and advice in his capacity as orchestra leader. Although the membership of the orchestra was smaller this year than for several seasons past, all of the members were boys who had played with the orchestra for several years and who were consequently well experienced along musical lines. Four of the orchestra members were Seniors who will graduate this year. The orchestra will miss them but is hoping to make up for their loss by the boys who will enter the High School next Fall from the Middle School. The orchestra played at practically all of the school functions during the year and acquitted itself commendably, the members at all times showing their willingness to cooperate with any group that was planning a school affair. Plans were made at the last meeting for the continuance of the orchestra next season and for the addition of new members. The olhcers for the year then handed in their resignations and the meet- ing was closed by the president. The Seniors who will leave the orchestra this year are: Howard Powell, Presidentg Granville Rogers, Vice-Presidentg Robert McKelvey, and Lawrence Evans.
