TI-IEl936BARNARDBRIC eff em not cwvwlnr meme me he essa he Bric Board HE Bric is Barnard's oldest tradition. Ever since Barnard School was founded in 1886 there has been a Bric issued annually. The first Bric was a 1 modest, paper-covered publication, containing class and athletic team pic- tures, names of the faculty and students, and little else. Since that time the size of the book has changed in all three dimensions, the cover has become a gold-stamped, leather affair, the contents have been enlarged by the addition of original drawings and writings, until in 1936 it is the book which you are now reading. Each year the board, made up of boys selected for their ability to write or draw, has worked to produce a better Bric. The Board this year has striven unusually hard, and the cooperation has produced a book that can be rated far ahead of its ancestors. Weekly meetings were held at the homes of members, assignments made, results com- mented on, and bit by bit The Bric grew. In the meantime the business department secured an unusually large amount of advertising in preparation for the anniversary number of the publication. In this con- nection it is well to state that they were admirably aided by all the members of the school. The Bric Board sincerely hopes that the finished product will be a fitting reminder of the happy days spent at Barnard.

The members of fi the board worked hard to turn out a successful paper and one that would maintain the high standards set by the boards of the preceding years. This year marked the sixteenth birthday of the Purple Although it is still far behind its big brother, the Eric in years, the Purple UB is growing rapidly and its success is attested by the eagerness with which each issue is greeted and the enthusiasm and support of the school toward this publication. The Purple B Board is composed chiefly of Seniors. The board also includes several juniors who have shown marked talent along literary lines, and so that the suc- ceeding boards will have experienced members among them when they take over the control of the school paper. The members of the board have worked hard this year to produce an interesting paper and we feel that their efforts have been crowned with the greatest success. The paper is extremely well managed and the members of the literary staff are to be congratulated for the capable way in which they have handled their assignments. Many of the boys comprising the Purple B Board are those who intend to enter the field of journalism after leaving school. The experience that they derive from the issuing of the Purple B cannot be overvalued. And for those who do not intend to follow this profession, the friendships made and the sense of responsibility attending membership of the board are experiences that will never be forgotten. The board has discharged its duties well and produced a paper that was worthy of its efforts. The members of the uBric Board would like to offer their congratulations and their best wishes to the members of the Purple B Board and to thank them for their efforts in behalf of the Purple Tl-lEl936BARNARDBRLC
