M Q 5 5 '. i Sennorlhlsinrg It was the ninth month in the year of 'b9 that there entered 1nto the land of learning, eight seekers of knowledge Six of these Jane Ann Jackson, Earl Brockway, Creighton Bro, Donald King, Gary Pepper, and Milton Shirley came up from the eighth grade, where they had for many months been busily engaged in storing their minds with wisdom V1rg1nia Purdy came from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to join us, and Dorothy Pepper came from Wamego, Kansas Our h1gh school life began w1th the Freshmen initiation which lasted a week At the end of our in1t1ation we were given a party to wh1ch the whole school was 1nv1ted We were now beg1nning to feel more like h1gh school students with the help of our class sponsor Mr Johnson The class had a very qulet year w1th only Milton participating 1D the one act play contest and Gary tak1ng part 1n the Junior play When we enrolled in the fall of our Sophomore year we found that there were only seven of us, V1rg1nia Purdy had moved to Missouri DUTIES thls year, Gary Pepper also found it necessary to leave us for a fewuce s to be w1th h1s mother 1D Iowa We all agreed that we like h1gh school life very much The boys were participatlng in all sports and were soon to become a dis tinct part of the sports in our school Mllton Shlrley somehow found tlme to be ln the Senior play and Gary Pepper was in the one act play that year Amldst all of the 3CU1V1t16S and study, we found tlme to have a few class parties We also found ourselves lnterested 1n maklng money and declded to have a magazlne sale Along w1th the help of our class sponsor Mr M1ddleton, we made our sale a success There were stlll seven of us 1U the fall of our Junior year The idea of being a Senlor became more real1st1c to us now and we began to th1nk of money To accumulate the money to bulld our class fund we had lunch stands at the ball gam s The Junlor play, 'Beads on a StFlHgn was given to help our fund also Gary also particlpated ln the forensic festlval and Gary and Jane Ann in the one act olay The b1g event of the year was the Junlor Senlor banouet With the help of our class sponsor, Miss Daldrup, we used NGarden of Friend shlpn as our theme We spent many hours in decorating the banquet room after school and 1n the evenlngs, but we were well rewarded for our efforts w1th the success of our banquet After th1s we kept say ing to ourselves, Just wait unt1l next year'H And wait we did At last we were Senmors, but we had lost another member of our class Dorothy Pepper had moved to W1chita durlng the summer months leavlng just initlate the the thlng we Grand Sen1or and we loved six members ln the class fe were g1ven gust one day to Freshmen class They were told to wear old clothes, but engoyed most was to make them kneel and say NHQ11' Oh It seemed to us that now and at last we were Seniors to be remlnded of 1C During our Senior year we sponsored the school paper and the yearbook But we d1dn't m1nd the work, that was part of belng a Senlor Jane Ann Jackson part1c1pated in the one act play of this year In the SDTlUg a class play will also be g1V9n hast, but not least, 15 our tak We, along w1th our sponsor Miss Daldrup, are looking forward to th1s w1th excltement 0' 0 ' . . .
