Though most Barnard girls are not old enough to vote, they take an active part in politics through courses such as Practical Politics as well as through the activities of Political Council. Straw balloting on Jake, and campaigning and canvassing throughout the neigh- borhood are but two aspects of the picture of campus political activities. Speakers Bureau provided the Public Relations Office with student guests for radio and TV programs, such as the television series, Horizons , produced by ABC and Columbia U., in which Barnard students, as well as other Uni- versity personnel, participated. In addi- tion, the Bureau sent representatives to many schools to speak on topics rang- ing from Civil Rights to Historical Geology. Barnard played at world politics when it served as Secretariat for the Model United Nations General Assem- bly, held on campus April 7, 1952. Top: Secretariat ot the Model U.N.
