Helen Veisfelt ' 52 Clubs Chairman Barnard Clubs are varied enough to al- low every student an outlet for extra- curricular interests, be they tied up directly with an academic program or aimed at community and intercollegiate projects. Members of the Pre-med Society spend much of their time touring city hospitals, and partaking in programs at Columbia College. The Debate Council office indi- cates the scope of travel and participation in interschool debates by that dynamic or- ganization. The Math Club ' s activities cen- ter on discussion of new theories presented by guest lecturers. The Poetry Club, newly chartered in November, reads and writes together and produces much of the ma- terial for Focus. The Eligibility Commit- tee, by its point evaluation of each stu- dent ' s extra curric, serves as a natural check on overburdened students. The Clubs Chairman has the job of coordinating the clubs ' activities, and receiving Student Council ' s approval of club charters, re- guired each year. We prefer to contei . . .
