Our trials and tribulations began at our pilgrimage. Withstanding the hardships of the unsettled land proved us to be a strong and determined group of people. Our destination was something of great value--freedom! Struggling to maintain our goals, we arose against our enemies, not as individuals, but as an alliance of a great people. When others became aware of our suvcess they took interest in being .1 part of what we stood for--inde- pendence! Conflicts took place because different ideas of different men weren't always made compatible. Hurt is often times unavoidable, but in time, the pain will heal. As we grew, our minds and destinations expanded with us. Our purpose exceeded that of our former goals, Ma- jor advances were made in the exploration of every field. We became foes to some, and friends to others. Disputed disagreements became intensely heated arguments and sometimes we got too involved to back out of the situation we had fallen into. We relied on our friends for our ne- cessities! Without one, the other would surely fall. Leaders, knowledge, and strategy became important part of our lives. Every person counted, and each part was as important as the other if we were successful. Because men are different they have different ideas. Conflicts are expeeted to arise! We can, however, prevent ourselves from challenging the personal beliefs of others. We walk together hand in hand, over the country side. We walk with the joys of happiness that make us a part of each other, but when we reach the running streams, we are destined to go our separate ways. Yet, the memo- ries left behind seem to lighten our golden past. M.. 'pl Q wi if ff fi mf qu. fix a... He based it on the art of jujitsu whose aim was either to cripple or kill an enemy. Dr. Kano incorporated techniques of other Jap- anese martial arts into what he called Kodokan Ju- do and eliminated many of the deadly slashes, kicks, and holds so judo could be practiced safely. ln November of 1975, the Bardstown Judo Club was founded by Coach Roland Williams. Individuals representing the club have received 10 trophies, 30 ribbons, and 20 medals while participating in local tournaments. Help came from other European countries to add to the flame of breaking the grip of England. Farmers, fish- ermen, cobblers and men from every walk of life took up their arms to defend this new- felt right to be free. As the smoke began to clear, ideas on organizing this diversity of colonies into a coalition of united states began to take shape. With the added growth of population, new frontiers were needed. This stretching brought new con- flicts with foreign powers who previously had laid claim to parts of the interior. s the gangling country continued to grow, internal disagreement erupted into a battle of economic and philosophical differ- ences. The battle was to leave scars which would heal only after generations had passed Out of the wounds came a stronger fiber of freedom for the individual man. The country had survived as a. unit and now its energies would be put to work in rebuilding the found- ing fathers' ideals. . ,'1,- N I I I nlrlljl I-V, ffl, '-- line-wdffwmr f 1 '45'?'9f,jHafL+f', 1,-fp WJ' - ' 1 I 1 I, 1 x 5' r -- V ':.u Uyfq, t , I ' I 1, , .
