EH ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS BARDOLPH COPS ROSEVILLE TOURNEY Playing like the champions they proved to be the Wildcats led by Captam Richard Kelso who played what was probably the hnest game 1n his H1gh School career won the Bosevrlle Invitational Tournament by downing the host team 49 41 After loslng B111 Durr and Ierry Vincent midway in the game the Cats slowed their offense down to a walk Richard who accounted for all but fifteen of the teams total pomts was clearly the d1fference between vlctory and defeat through hrs uncanny shooting outstandmg floor work and magni ficent passing Fred Caspall and Conrad Clark filled in for the two lost through fouls in a championship manner At one time m the first quarter the Cats led by seven points but Rose v1lle came back to an 11 10 count at the quarter The score was 2718 at halftime and 38 26 at third quarter mark Roseville outscored the locals ln final quarter 15 11 but it was not enough to overcome the earlier lead bullt by the Cats When the SlCIl1S11CS were released Rlchard and B111 Durr had finished first and second in the sconng department The team as a whole led in free throw percentage for the entlre tournament BARDOLPH WINS DISTRICT TOURNAMENT out Gladstone Oquawka and Klrkwood 1n first round games we met an 1n splred Media five After we built up a comfortable ten polnt margin at half trme Med1a came back tsrong in the second half but we held on to w1n a hard fought contest a bronze plaque and the nght to advance to the regional by a 64 58 score WILDCATS SMOTHER ASTORIA PIRATES What we thought would be a hard battle proved to be an easy mark for the Cats as they downed Astoria prrates 73 53 This was only the fourth loss of the season for Astoria who has a strong team The f1rst quarter was a close contest but after that the Wrldcats pulled to lead the rest of the game Ierry Vincent and Bill Durr each made 24 points for the Cats wh11e Re1bl1ng garnered 14 for the losers INDIVIDUAL TOTALS Points Free Throw Percentage Rlchard Kelso B111 Durr Ierry Vmcent B111 Markley Dick Rankin Fred Caspall 51 Richard Kelso and Bill Durr were high scorers at the County tourna ment Rlchard set a hlgh scorlng mark for Macomb Highs new gym with 2,2 A -l 'B 4 u I Su X 1 In the finals of the Gladstone-Oquawka district tournament, after nosing ' 537 .654 ' 513 .547 ' 279 .561 ' 224 .577 ' ' 117 .513 . .642
